GAME PLAY
All games are SEQUENTIAL and NO POLY ... other than that all settings are accepted…and all maps are in play.
A 20-round cap will be in place for all maps.
Games are scored based on a five-map showdown.
*First quarter — a Geographic map with some relation to the home city.
*Second quarter — a Geographic map with some relation to the home city.
Third quarter — home-field settings chosen by player
Fourth quarter — home-field settings chosen by player
*Special teams — random map
* These maps will be escalating, chained, sunny
SCORING
A scoring formula (see below) will reward players for quick victories. Note: the special teams map has its own scoring system.
Total points will be used to determine the official winner — it will be possible for a team to win just 2 of the 5 maps and still come out in front. Although winning 3 of 5 maps will often land you a victory.
9-12 NFL scoring by David Ball, on Flickr
• In the case of overtime...each team will face off on a random map.
A win in 12 rounds or less gives you the winning points…if the overtime map goes 13+ rounds then that game will end in a tie. (ties not allowed in playoffs, of course).
(Win in 7 or less rounds for a winning TD…win in 8-12 rounds to get a winning FG)
SEASON
A hybrid schedule is being created…17 games in the regular season…every team has a bye week at some point. The playoffs will have each Division winner earning first-round byes. The next four best records in each conference will earn wildcard spots. A total of 6 playoff teams in each conference.
The winner of the Super Bowl will be declared the winning team for this tournament.
Scoring Example:
DENVER 14 7 0 9 — 30
KANSAS CITY 3 3 6 7 — 19
1st quarter
• Denver wins in 6 rounds
2nd quarter
• Denver wins in 13 rounds
3rd quarter
• Kansas City wins in 11 rounds
4th quarter
• Kansas City wins in 17 rounds
• Denver FG
*Denver wins special teams map in 13 rounds, so gets 1 FG (credited in the 4th Q).
• A scoreboard section will update scores throughout each week, while standings will be updated at the end of each week.
