I like the park, and the Cross...it's a true Montreal landmark. It looks sort of out of place in reality :-P

As far as the Israel/Palestine thing goes, it is abbreviated on the drop-downs (and in the .xml) to Israel and PT. It just reads the long way on the map as per some rather lengthy debate when I first created it. :P

Honestly this thing looks as done as it can get. Let's get the monkey-man some bananas and get this thing to play! I've been waiting for this to be done for so long, I'm rather excited to see my map in a new light.

The Egypt-Sudanese border I used come from the Administrative boundary that allows for the dispute over the Hala'ib Triangle, a sort of leftover from the Anglo-Egyptian Condominium agreement and other lovely British Colonial policies. The fact is that it's sort of irrelevant and many maps show both ...

Ok, this map is not depicting any time in particular. The borders I used were the modern ones but yes some of the names are less so. If you want to say that Israel has only been around since 1948 (not 1950 by the by) you first of all forget the ancient kingdom of Israel from the Biblical era and up ...

He could change the army locations on the .xml, it's just the playability that shouldn't change. Fact is that with the thoroughness of this revamp, it might be necessary for the army locations to move a bit.

Otherwise the map looks fantastic, I like it so very much. Thanks Keyogi!

gimme an idea, Bactria was sort of the first thing that popped into my head at the time other than the less that stimulating "Stan-a-stans"....As far as the name change issues it was mostly relating to the Israel-Palestine issue and places of contention like that in an effort to keep the endless ...

I love the way this is coming out! The original version you (Keyogi) made or version two look great, and I love Lake Nasser fixing that weird corner issue. The colors are great and the look is what I hoped for in the old-school parchment style. The only things I could say is that you could push the ...

Ok...the regions you take issue with I named as such for simplicity and to describe the regions. No, there is no country named Kurdistan (yet!) and yes Caucasia is a region including more than what is in the territory, but it's Armenia and Azerbaijan and to name it one or the other wouldn't do it ...

There was a huge debate when I first made the map about Israel-Palestine. First I called it Palestine as that is what the region is called, but people didn't like that. Then I called it Jerusalem after the name of the area under the Ottomans (The Independent Sanjak of Jerusalem) which also bugged ...

I was starting to worry that this revamp had died away...but I'm glad to see it's still going. The 'dead' territory and water around it looks good and puts it in context (especially the Caucasia to Turkmenistan bit). A touch lighter might be nice on the land, but either way it looks good on the dark ...

Wow, I'm impressed! I would have worked on something like this eventually, but you've done a fantastic job and I appreciate you taking the time to improve something I loved making. I can't wait to see the finished product...it may get me playing again!

I could get the whole thing put into Arabic instead..... But thanks for the input, I'm done changing it too much if I can help it. I've spent far too much time on that instead of my term papers...argh.

It really isn't that hard, just time consuming and (as mine has shown!) not easy to catch your mistakes if you're not careful. But is just text in the end.

I've heard about a few bugs, Uzebekistan to Turkmenistan, Khuzestan fortification issues, Izmir to Istanbul. I'll check the xml right now and see what I can fix, I'm sorry about all that, staring at that much text for a while makes your eyes bug out a bit....

marv,

You make an interesting point, but the fun of some new maps is to get not only new scenery but a whole new playing experience. My very first version of this map, I thought in terms of the classic map but it evolved into something totally new.

PS: I've set up the .XLM file for the large ...

Yeah, if you want to get 'techincal' half the place on this map are no countries, just names I made up from regions within countries. The fact of the matter is the place you insist on calling Israel is made up of the State of Israel, the Palesinian Territories of Gaza and the West Bank. Thus it isn ...
