Re: Lets pretend global warming exist

Let's say for argument sake that it does exist and it is caused by humans. Then how do we fix it? How do you convince China, India, and America to give up what is fueling there economies? How do you supply enough energy to keep the world running?

Well all three countries are already doing a lot ...

Home; A documentary by Yann Arthurs Bertrand

m

This is a truly stunning movie. Everybody should watch this right now (in HD). It's made up almost entirely from aerial shots of the planet, describing the story of life on Earth and the impact we've had. It's so amazing, even if you don't care about environmental issues at all, it's still worth ...

Re: Iran Elections

France and the US are in totally different positions politically. It's of no benefit of the US to openly oppose the election result, and we've seen most leaders express concern while being careful not to openly say that the election results are fraudulent.

The US already has a big reputation for ...

Re: Global Warming, the new Religion

Crazy;

NASA has conclusively proven that solar energy is not responsible for Earth's warming. If it were then we'd expect the outer atmosphere to be warmed most, since that would be getting the energy first. If global warming was caused by changes in the atmosphere, the out atmosphere would ...

Demonfork - please provide sources for your claims.

Captain Crazy - what were the reasons for it being so hot in the past? Also what does that have to do with your claim that temperatures are falling?

Re: Global Warming, the new Religion

That would be the little bit at the end... where the trend is going down.

But it's still obviously far warmer than it has been in the past and we can also see other short term variability in the past, which demonstrates the fact that global temperatures are not static.

Indeed 20% of climate ...

Re: Global Warming, the new Religion

I'd love to see you post a scientific source to back up the claim you've just made that nitrogen and oxygen capture more heat in the atmosphere than CO2.

I agree about water vapour, except that the main cause of water vapour is temperature, so it's a feedback loop created by atmospheric changes ...

Re: Global Warming, the new Religion

Don't you know that plants respire with CO2 the same way that you suck up all the hot air in a room to pump up your bloated self image?

I don't understand what this has to do with climate change. I do note that it's a logical fallacy to attack the person making an argument, rather than their ...

Re: Global Warming, the new Religion

What an incredibly ignorant view of the history of global warming.

The thermodynamic properties of CO2 and other greenhouse gasses was first observed (not theorised, actually tested) in the late 19th Century, which is the time when it was realised that those gasses could change our climate and that ...

Re: dangerous 9-11 truthers?

I have no doubt that there was no conspiracy regarding 9/11 and that it was a terrorist attack carried out by Muslims. Almost every claim made by the 9/11 truth movement has been ridiculously easy to debunk. My favourites have been;

"The buildings fell at free fall speed." Actually they took twice ...

Engineers most likely to be Religious Wackos

http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg2 ... aking.html

30% of Islamic Militants have an engineering degree.

In the US Engineering professors are 7 times more likely to be religious far right wing nut jobs than other academics.

According to the article, the reason for this is because they think society can be run like clockwork.'

I'm not denying that the election was rigged, I'm saying there isn't enough information for me to make a judgement either way, but also that I'm sceptical of the result, which means I think it probably was rigged, I'm just not prepared to say that it definitely was.

I haven't seen evidence that ...

There's no way the US will send troops to Iran. Losing two wars in the region is already two big a stretch.

I think the best approach is to with hold judgement about the legitimacy of the elections until real evidence is presented. I admit I'm sceptical of the results, but also that the analysis I ...

It's a very poor understanding of the financial crisis. While there is no doubt about the problems leading to the bailouts (although I would seriously question the motives), the nature of those problems put the government in a terrible position. They could make an idealistic moral decision, and not ...

As I said before, both sides have committed war crimes, both sides are immoral and should not be supported. Neither side has policies that will ever bring about peace and both sides are committing their people to living in fear and being needlessly slaughtered.
