I think WW1 is the best choice (with most of the countries in both americas as independent states). WW2 limites the number of countries, and when you use the time empires were at their biggest there are troubles with overlap. i.e. Spain ruled like most of the world around 1700, but before WW1 they ...

Well, i "did" some wikipedia:

British Empire in 1921:

French Empire around WW1:
(only the DARK blue)
m

German Empire (Zweites Kaiserreich = 1852 - 1870):

Dutch Empire (way earlier than WW1, see my list posted earlier for colonies around WW1)

you are right.

Note that when WW1 is taken as year of reference most of the countries in the map were already independent, such as Canada, the United states and most of the countries in south-america...

i agree that portugal should be a seperate empire.

That would include:

- Brasil
- Angola
- Guinea-Bissau
- Cape Verde
- Mozambique
- Sao Tome & Principe
- Macao
- East Timor


Also Netherlands can be added, however it would be a small empire around WW1:

- Indonesia
- New Guinea ...

well, the idea is that it has a function like rivers or hills in other maps. Hills are not available in Amsterdam, and the highway ís in fact a boundary which you can pass on limited locations in real life.

Maybe i should find an other way to display the highways...

[Abandoned] - Amsterdam

Hi there,

I am relatively new around her, and really enjoy the map-making section.

I tried something (my own home town) myself, and i know it is not good enough.
Maybe you people can give some advice, i would appreciate it!
