Re: JUDEA (formerly Ancient Israel) [4rth DRAFT]

Thanks for the positive feedback!

Well, I put the "Unite all tribes to win!" in there because I didn't want it to be like the Judeans were fighting amongst themselves, so it's like (whoever wins) was driving out the enemies from Judea and uniting it. (and possibly with an ally or two)

Yes, the ...

Re: Ancient Israel [3rd draft]

Third draft everyone! Please check it out and give me new feedback. I hope the parchment I was working on is now explained by the extra bonuses. (oh and I need feedback on that too)

Re: Ancient Israel [2nd draft]

ustus, I am fixing that in my next draft (should be done tomorrow), where the names of the bonuses are just dark grey and is next to the minimap with lines pointing to the bonus (on the minimap) that is represents. You'll see what I mean tomorrow.

TaCktiX, using photoshop to create the mountain ...

Re: Ancient Israel [2nd draft]

Jerusalem is in the second draft. Issachar and Zebulun are also tribes but not a part on a continent. I think Manasseh originally was all one tribe, but the pic I got it from to split up the tribes showed two different tribes for the east and west sides.

The parchment in the lower-left corner was ...

Re: Ancient Israel

Update: Second draft.

Thanks everyone for the kind advice. I added bridges where I thought I needed them. I am also considering adding a trade route which connects Gaza, Joppa, ands Tyre, yet I need some feedback on that idea.

I don't know the exact years this map would cover but it would ...

[Abandoned] - JUDEA

This map is susposed to be Israel in the biblical times. The regions (continents/bonuses) are the 12 tribes of Israel split up. However, some of the tribes were too small too make them into it's own region so I grouped it with another tribe to make a single region.

It's still a work-in-progress ...

Re: Nolmur Island

Wow, some really good advice here. Thanks everyone. :)

I've been slowly working on Nolmur Isle, becuase I've been really busy with other stuff and been working on another map (which is 100x better than this and I won't mention the name yet).

I'm considering mothballing (discontinuing) this map ...

Re: 3D water/land textures?

Could you create a tutorial for how you made your textures?
I'd love to learn how you did it.

Well, it's not really simple. I've been using a free downloadable 3D modeling program called Blender3D for at least 4-5 years now. I'll go ahead and write a 5-step tutorial, but some of you will not be ...

3D water/land textures?

I can provide 3D water/land textures for anyone who needs them for their map project. The water textures (See the Nolmur Island topic in graphting room) I make look good as a background, and I can make nice looking moutains on land textures. If you're simply interested in what I can do, go ahead and ...

Re: Nolmur Island

Update: New draft.

I haven't had much time to work on it lately but I got it cropped to fit the requirements. I added a new region and split up the blue region, but the green region only has a troop bonus of 2.

Re: Nolmur Island

@ tlane; Oh, no I haven't read it yet, I will now. I thought it might have been too big. Also I finished another draft this morning, I might have added too much contrast, but I went ahead and split up two territories and added one in each region, which now makes overall 24 territories. I'll split up ...

[Abandoned] - Nolmur Island

This is my first attempt to make a map. Since it was sort of a test, I didn't base it off any real land, but instead made up a fake island.

I'm using a mix of photoshop and Blender3D (a 3D modeling program). It's not completely done, I have yet to make a few changes.

Re: Interested in Making Maps

Ok, I'll check that topic out.

I was kind of thinking of making a fantasy land, but a real place would be cooler, and easier. Yeah, I'm going to try to blend the 3D land with photoshop or something. I was expirementing in photoshop the other day and it wasn't turning out that great.

Thanks for the ...

Interested in Making Maps

I am interested in making maps, but I don't know any tips/guidlines to work off of. Could anyone fill me in on the basics of mapmaking?

I use photoshop and a 3D modeling program, and am fairly good at both.
