My 2 cents, while I think this could be done for 1v1 games, there are too many variations, and on site where i play chess (gameknot.com), it allows for this and it works wonderfully. That company is small and definitely doesn't implement anythign difficult, so... Granted I agree this would be more ...

I can see both sides, and play other sites that allow this option. Implemented correctly it does work. I might be nice to try it out on 1v1 games to see if it would be useful there and/or when you get down to 1v1 players in a individual/team game.
