I like this philosophy. It's short and sweet.

To me, good and evil are relative to a given goal. Good moves a person closer to that goal, and evil makes that goal harder to accomplish.

Examples:

If the goal is to make everyone as happy as possible before they die, then it would be considered good to make people happy and bad to make ...
