I agree with wisse that the entire map looks rather pixely. It's just not terribly refined in its appearance. The worst part is the texture of the sea. Change it, make it less uniform, maybe make it darker.

Very pixelly. definitely needs smartening up. The colours in the legend are also very harsh and confusing.

im gonna abandon this i guess...
i could fix the legend and the pixel problem but most the feedback im getting isnt really very positive, so i think most people arent very into it. Id rather spend my time on something more people are into.
ill be back with another idea!

Sorry if these have been mentioned, but 7 pages is a bit too much to read.
I think you need to change the look of the unpassables, and is it really necessary that the unpassables block so much of the Hebei and Baotou border?
I think seperating the Koreas with an unpassable is a good idea and will lead to some interesting battles.
Im guessing that Vladivostok is Neutral, if this is so i think you should state it.
Im not a fan of one border countries so i suggest you enlarge Beijing so that it connects to Shandong and do something with Qingdao (maybe u want to block Hebei off from Baotou and connect Qingdao to Liaoning.
In the Key you should order the names from North to south as the continent colours r so similar, ie. have Higashi Nihon above Nishi Nihon because in the map Higashi Nihon is north of Nishi Nihon. Im currently having trouble telling which of the Chinese bonuses are for which continents. I also suggest you switchthe colours of Fukien and the continent above it (shansi?) to stop confusion with Manchuria?
Overall looks like a great map.
