Just to be clear, I thought it should be scraps of an old pirate map using the same regions and territories already worked out in the Bill of Rights version. It would be a treasure hunter trying to add it all up to find the treasure. So I don't think you have to start again from scratch.

aha. ok. i'll try adapting the old one. if i find it too difficult (lots and lots of layers to sort) i'll continue from scratch

i'm at work now and on photobucket i only have jpg's. i did not upload any png so i guess i'll have to start from scratch :)

i don't even have the new one uploaded. so it's really from scratch :(

here is another try. now i need to know the direction i must follow.
do i use the map as it is and routes and territories (see 2nd pic) or do i tear the map to bits and make the bits as territories (see the bill of rights)

as i said before i'm at work now and all my png images are at home, so i had to start from scratch. here's what i came up with:

Image

i'm waiting your suggestions.
i think this is how a pirate map looks.
so samus please give me gameplay improvements. i know you want to :)
there are 5 continents (2 on top, the islands and 2 on the bottom split by the impassble mountains) and 45 continents (if i counted right)
also there are 4 ports that connect to eachother. also i need to place the treasure somewhere (probably in Fort Hope) and i'm thinking of giving some special bonuses like:
*owning a continent + the treasure = +3
*owning all ports = +3

you'll probably say the center islands continent is the hardest to keep because there are 10 teritories with 6 borders. but it will have quite a big bonus (+7) plus owning it also secures the treasure so another +3. hard to get but really worth the effort.

the top left one has 10 teritories and 3 borders so maybe +4
the top right has 12 teritories and 4 borders so a +6 bonus
bottom left has 6 teritories and 3 borders so +2
bottom right has 8 territories and 3 borders so +3

what do you guy think?

Not what I had in mind for a pirates map. Looks a bit too clean if you get what I mean.

The text is impossible to read. There's a reason you don't see script fonts on the maps that make it through the foundry. :)

I think I counted 46 territories. :? Could you try and find two more? Or you could always lose some too, as some of those are really small. I don't understand why you only have 5 continents... I think you should aim for at least 6 if you can. Gameplay isn't my specialty though so I'll let others comment on that. I think the map needs a lot of work graphically, but the idea is far more appealing than the last two versions.

i intentionally made the map look clean. i was told the other one was a bit too loaded.
the font can be easily changed.
5 continents seemed enough because i want people to fight for them. i don't like games where each guy gets a continent and then the game turns into a stalemate where they simply build troops and wait.

add 1 territory to the group of islands on the right and 1 to the group on the left. That will give you 48 territories and 1 additional bonus.

give them both +2 for a bonus?

i like the idea.

the font has got to go.

it seems to me that the island continent will be very difficult to hold. 6 borders, 10 territories. better have a huge bonus.

treasure is a must. red x marks the spot. oooo, maybe some blood coloured ink as an accent-- that would go with the pirate theme. and this map needs some colour- without destroying the parchment look.

looks like a good start.

The idea has moved a few inches in the direction interest on my mile scale. :)

One thing to consider...lets say there is a theme. Lets pretend there are 5 competing pirates...and they each have a piece of the threasure map, but they need all other pieces to get the treasure. Continents could be things like 'Red Beard's Claim' and 'Scurvy Jack's Claim'. You could even paraody old real life pirates from history. With all pirates trying to take over each other's pieces of the map...I see more point in trying to conquer the 'map'.

That idea...makes this map sound more interesting to me

the island continent is hard to hold but i said earlier it has a +10 bonus (7 for holding the continent and 3 fr holding the treasure (which wull be in fort hope))

I doubt anyone's actually going to attempt to hold the islands though. The way I see it, everyone will be going for a corner and whoever starts with the majority of the islands loses because they'll never be able to defend their borders. That's not a scenario I like in maps and in current form, while I like the idea of a pirate map I wouldn't play it as it is.

I liked the torn parchment better. Is this replacing the TP or is it another map? Anyway, I like this map as well, nice work.

I like the regions and gameplay of the torn parchment/Bill of Rights version. So did a lot of people.

I do NOT like this.

I really don't understand why you can't adapt those territories and regions to this idea.

i've decided to work only on 2 maps. the first one is The Bill of Rights.
and the second one is a mixture between Treasure map and TTD map.

here is the second one.

I don't know a darn thing about making maps, but just wanted to say I really like this map idea...and if you are feeling frustrated, just know that people out there like it...so keep on chuggin' and pluggin'.

NICE WORK.

ya, its kindof confusing. i dont think the style of the map complements it any more, either. it looks like an old fashioned pirate map and youre talking about markets and resources?

the market/resources idea is cool- but i think it would go better with graphics that are very clear-cut, (more like the king of the hills map), as the idea is somewhat complicated.

if youre going to stay with the pirate/treasure map idea, you need a treasure, blood and guts, and yo ho me heartys.
