My guess is that it'll be a new website design which is long overdue and mr.lack showed it to volunteers to suggest various design tweaks before going live

by bruce posting this thread the update should have been 48 hours away tops. Anything more just causes the "hype" period to be over and the annoyed period to begin. I am already more annoyed just because of this dumb thread more than i have been by the lack of updates over the past year or so, and it just takes away from the update itself.

Let alone the fact that bruce posted the dumb thread instead of one of the admins...just promotes the continued feeling of inequality between the mods and the community.

lol, let lack put the finishing touches on it. I know he's been working on this for a long time, so I for one don't mind waiting until he's happy with it to release.

i have no issues waiting...the issue i have is people telling me something big is about to happen and is right around the corner and then waiting a week for it to happen. That is stupid...and for me more frustrating then none/slow updates.

Either way, who says we dont have patience? When you say around the corner the longest i expect it to be is 48 hours away and yet we have waited 5 days already and it will probably still be a few days. Let alone the fact that we learn of this pending update from a mod not even an admin or lack himself.

It just breads the notion of you creating a thread so you can say look what i know guys and annoy everyone reading who is not a mod.

48 hours to me is not just around the corner. That would be super quick. It will be here before you know it.

Rather than make a slow, chunky flash-based interface, CC should invest in the future and create a HTML5/CSS3 based interface... Flash is on it's way out, HTML5 can do everything flash does but without the need for extraneous browser plugins. Not to mention it's an open format so CC wouldn't be dependent on Adobe or any other software company... what happens if (when) Adobe decides to discontinue flash?

Also, you could also use the site on iphone and other smart phones. Without paying for an app.

HTML5 is the way of the future. If lack is smart, he'll look into building a HTML5 interface and gain an advantage over all the sites who still use flash.

I think the current interface uses javascript & html.

Current browsers can already view pages with some html5 elements. The html5 format is not complete yet, but it will soon be, and all the major browsers will be likely to implement full html5 support as soon as the format is finalized.

With a combination of html5, css3 and javascript, you can basically do everything you can do with flash, except it will be faster and not dependent on browser plugins.

Even Adobe acknowledges that flash is on it's way out... they are already developing a software for developing html5 content, despite html5 competing against their own flash.

It looked like that a year ago or so. But now with the coming release of flash 11 and flex 3 it will be changed again. Flash will be able to interact with graphic cards way more faster than now and applications that will be built on it will amaze people. And don't underestimate other ares (besides web) where flash can be used. It is very popular there. The only hard thing for flash to conquer will be mobile market. HTML5 has already take that niche. That is why Adobe switches to HTML5 as well. for mobile market. But they will fight over other areas till the end.
