In fact its just as easy to use your comparison of appeasement to America, our own country under a different light.
Sorry, didn't realize that Iran had released the sailors yet. Also, in my defense, I was just trying to make a comparison between the aggressive behavior of Nazi Germany and the behavior of Iran.
A comparison that I believe is well deserved.
Adrian: Einstein flunked out of school, twice.
Paulie: Is that so?
Adrian: Yeah. Beethoven was deaf. Helen Keller was blind. I think Rocky's got a good chance.

Well, can I just say that that isn't really much of a defence - it's more what we call poor form. Haven't you heard of Godwin's Law?
Nope. Not till now.
*note to self: do not break Godwin's law in the future*
But, who else do you think I could compare that type of behavior too?? Everyone (well almost everyone) knows who Hitler and Nazi Germany are and what they did. If I referenced someone else like Mao they might not get the point i'm trying to make.

20%???!!! Are you daft?! People died along the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Katrina because there was virtually no national guard available. That wanker not only had the majority of our military over there, but also most of the freakin national guard! Where the hell do you get 20%? Please don't tell me that someone actually quoted those statistics on a news forum.

Well, the real point is, don't do it at all, unless it's absolutely relevant, say, if you're discussing WWII or something.
The fact of the matter is, the enormity of Hitler's (and Stalin's and Mao's) crimes will (hopefully) never be repeated again. However bad you think the Iranian regime is, it doesn't come anywhere near Hitler. So you'll just have to think (hard) of another analogy.
A hush appears to have fallen over the pro-invasion camp. They must be working hard on compiling their list of reasons why Iran should be attacked anyway and getting their little vials of anthrax ready to use as visual aids during their presentations.
No they were probably hoping that the UK would attack them so they could call on the protection of the UN. and before you call them cowardly it was an actually smart thing to do as long as they didn't kill anyone. No offense to anyone but this war on iraq if you look at the history of wars this just like a civil war just on a more global scale where the US, UK, etc.. are the "evil" dictators (in their eyes) and Iraq, Iran, etc.. are the rebellion. So considering they don't have the military strength to fight the US UK headon they use guerilla warfare.
... Yeah, I have to agree. "I'mADinnerJacket" (can't spell his name and too lazy to look it up, but sounds like, "I'm a dinner jacket")... anyway... He's a clever little gnome to be sure. I think he knew very well what the outcome of this thing would be.
... What did he lose? What did he gain? Methinks he gained more than he lost, seen as the man who stood up to the "Evil Empire".
... I'm just glad those Brits are free. Sickening to see them languishing while Blair spoke of "Diplomacy", and did nothing. I've read that he (Tony B.) fears the Muslim population in his own country.
Seems to me that the overall significance here is that Iran (and Moslems, certainly, but perhaps it's a bigger revelation with regards to Iran) doesn't reflexively hate us, and use any possible chance they can to kill innocents (which, of course, is forbidden in the Koran, but then it's not quite kosher to Christians, either, and that hasn't stopped us yet). They just need a little self-assurance from time to time, as humans do. Sure, taking what were probably British sailors innocent of any wrongdoing might not have been the best way to express that innate humanity, but whatever. The important thing is, it's over now, the Brits'll be home soon, Iran probably won a reprieve from nuclear Holocaust, and I have a pony. All is good.

You're telling us that you won £25 on the sailors' release? Betting on people's lives? How disgusting.

A pony = £25 in Cockney slang
Too right!
I lost a monkey betting they'd be banged up till Christmas.

Exactly!
I stood to win a bag of sand myself, but there you go.
