And "better" is relative depending on your belief system, so you can't really argue whether a belief system makes you a "better" person unless you begin with the premise that your belief system is right...

Not always. First the pagans were killing Christians. Once Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire many pagan temples were destroyed and most pagans were forced to convert. During the Medieval the Teutonic Knights were killing all the pagans in the Baltics. The Conquoistadors were also killing the pagans in the new world.

I do agree that religion starts some wars. But other things do too. Like stupidity, Take Bush for example, he started the Iraq war which turned out to be nothing. But then again. He was a methodist.

Look at the bold part, would you? Also, by the time Christianity became the religion of the empire, many people had already peacefully converted to it. Which includes the areas of Gaul, Palestine, Egypt, Asia Minor, Greek Archipelago, Italian Peninsula, Tunsia, Iberian Peninsula, Britain, and other places throughout the empire. And other then the first part, your paragraph has no real added part to the discussion.

And to respond to Pedronicus; Religion has not caused wars, people (like always) caused those wars.

But some of these people were over dramatic about religion and that caused part of it too

Yes but the true reason was money and greed, wasn't it? Only some stupid religious fanatics believed that they were fighting for God. Anyways a religious war is the stupidest thing ever: You kill the enemy because he doesn't believe that your God is the one that promotes love and peace.

Well i disagree with that. Kage you know I am a Christian so you know I would disagree with that. I believe in God, Hell, blah blah blah. But what I'm trying to get to is that people are trying to force each other into their religion.

Well duh they're trying to convert. That's one of the core pieces of all religions, convert non-believers to your point of view.

True, (sorry about double post) but I know plenty of Christian's that wouldn't do that

convert others? than they're defying one of the main points of Christianity, the evangelical part

Ok what I meant by that is they try to convert but peacefully. Not I'm gonna killyou if you don't turn into a Christian

Not true at all. Many religions, including Judaism, are non-prostelytizing.

That is factually incorrect. More wars are started by leaders. Sometimes, particularly in more recent history, they have used religion, but that is all they did .. use it.

I would say fighting in the name of peaceful god is just an excuse. A lot of poeople who belong to any religion really do live their lives like an Atheist/Agnostic. So,... Atheist/Agnostics have done most the killin'.

Since most of the people on here are Christian, I'll use them as an example.
As a Christian, what's your job? To be the best Christian that you can be, and that's about it.
I did an experiment back in high school. Only three people passed, and one was a Jehovah's Witness! All I asked them was to quote me five passages from the Bible.
If you can pass that test, then you're a Christian, or whatever religion.... But if you can't, then you're prolly more an Atheist than you want to admit.



This excludes of course the periods of our history, even through today, when the Preists were the only people who could read/interpret the Bible for you. Like as in the Crusades.
