I'm basing my judgment on how he lived his life.I give my respect acording to the aspects that I admire in ones personality.

we have to show unerring respect for someone due to one aspect of his life!? Canonisation through art is for future generations who only hear the music (as we see with Wagner history often remembers too). This generation, in this time, need to weigh his misdemeanours and the impact of his 'idiosyncrasies' upon the character of humanity.

The bloke was a plastic monster; ashamed of his gender and race. he lived in a fantasy world where he used roller-coasters in the place of bags of sweets. If he was not a paedophile, he certainly corrupted the young into his entourage and dropped them to obscurity as soon as they showed semblance of adulthood.
Perhaps he was a victim of his glory but to lambaste his legacy is a necessary catharsis for the future emanation of other such creatures.

in short, some of the music was pretty good but that does not mean i liked the guy and it does not lock me into false mourning.
