I agree her bind is an inability to discipline her son. But, not because she evidently refuses to corporal punishment. Even if she did, it would be completely ineffective. The impact that anyone scientist or philosopher made is questionable anyways, chances are their idea would've been invented sometime or later in their lifetime, they just got to it first. I don't know much about Galileo though, but he might be an exception and thought way ahead of his time. I forget who said it but there's a qoute 'I only see so far now because I stand on the shoulders of Giants'.
