Defend from whom? Haredi aren't being attacked. Zionists are being attacked. Jews have lived side by side with Arabs for millennia. Saladin even reopened the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem after the Jews had been expelled by the Crusaders.

Ireland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minster for Foreign Affairs, Michael Martin, has today accused the Israeli government of deploying a strategy of deliberately targeting civilian facilities in order to kill women and children.
At the same time Ireland's Prime Minister, Simon Harris, repeated calls for Israel to listen to the ICJ and end its illegal occupation of Gaza, while also calling on other EU member states to suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement:
About 100 people were killed in the strike on the school in central Gaza City, which also left another 47 people injured, Gaza’s ministry for health said.
In one of his strongest condemnations of Israel since it invaded Gaza last October, Mr Martin suggested the targeting by the IDF of places relied upon for shelter by civilians, including children, seemed to be a deliberate strategy.
“The slaughter has to stop. It seems to me that Israel is premeditatedly facilitating and planning the killing of civilians and children,” he said.

The Jews have been given land, nearly all in a desert, and turned it into an oasis and a modern country. What did the Arab and Muslim population do with most of the land before the Jews? Not much.
What is the government in Israel now and then? A democracy. What about the Muslim and Bedouin and Arab populations? A kingdom and a dictatorship with NO free elections in Gaza since 2007. (I have discussed Gaza single election for Hamas already) in this thread.
