no. like people being too stupid to understand and relate to each other. people being too stupid to see the larger consequences of their actions. people being too stupid to perceive how others are feeling. people being too stupid to realize why they believe what they believe, and why others don't share their beliefs. people being too stupid to accept that they might be wrong.

if people were intelligent enough to see this, then there would be much less conflict.

this applies to everybody. i make efforts to avoid this but it applies to me too.

It's not that simple, and it's not just a matter of intelligence--however that may be defined.

One's environment, experiences, access to education heavily influence this. Also, some people just lack communication skills, or they're poorly developed, which is partly their fault and partly due to other factors beyond their control. Besides, things like sympathy and empathy don't have much to do with one's intelligence.

And there most likely wouldn't be less conflict if there were more intelligent people--many conflicts are started by intelligent people. Intelligence alone isn't enough, nor to me is intelligence such an all-encompassing term as you suggest. It's just one facet of many that make human beings who they are.

i'm not blaming people for being unintelligent, or saying that they have less worth because of it. if intelligence is the ability to comprehend and understand, then communication skills, empathy, etc. all fall within that definition. if people were more perceptive, then they would be able to better understand the source of conflict and how to resolve it. most real conflict arises from a lack of understanding of the opponent's motivations and thought processes, combined with selfish motives and a lack of awareness of the consequences of their actions. it's like when you see two kids fighting over who gets to be first in line for something, or who gets to watch tv first. you know that the conflict is ultimately trivial and worthless and that the kids are just being self-serving. someone with enough intelligence can perceive the same for adult conflicts, e.g. both sides of most political debates are (usually) advocating what they genuinely believe to be the best solution for the largest amount of people. very rarely are they actually bad people... they're just willing to twist the truth and waste their time arguing politics with people that are actually trying to achieve the same goal that they are.

I know somebody who went to a Wheel of Fortune audition and didn't even get a chance to participate. I think they select you based on how excited you seem.

Well, you have something there. A few folks have tried to define it. I believe one book spoke of "Emotional IQ". Any way, if you want to know what helps some people succeed and others fail.. that is it. Its not absolute, but the truth is that the guy who makes everybody smile, but may not be the brightest on the block, tends to be the one who goes more places than the one smart enough to save the world.

-Amazon's way of dealing with credit cards.

I often buy from amazon, almost always I use one mastercard to buy, but often it won't accept it!!! In the last few days I had to try a Visa card that I didn't want to use on the net, and the same, I still have 1 order pending because Amazon won't take it. I use the cards in other .com sites with no problem. I called my bank and they said everything was fine.

f*ck

Haircuts aren't that expensive, and I usually just make my mom pay for it when I go home, except I didn't have a ride home when our vacation came around, so I figured I'd get it this one time.

And I don't want a shitty haircut by anyone else who isn't good at it. I CARE ABOUT MY HAIR

Also, one good thing about not drinking is I save a lot more than other people.
