Idiot, I wasn't addressing Americans, or you, in the previous post. Did I quote you before? BTW, it's always funny when Europeans and Canadians go out of their way to express disdain for American arrogance and misguided pride by...making certain to make a point of talking about their own superior traits.
Okay, fair enough then, excuse me for mistaking that post ot be aimed at mine, afterall, it came right after mine and adressed a lot of what was discussed in my post.Machus wrote:Idiot, I wasn't addressing Americans, or you, in the previous post. Many Americans who are so serious about the whole thing are usually jumping on a bandwagon. Most not all. But, I've never heard an American who had an authentically original reason that wasn't based on the same rhetoric as some Europeans and Canadians.
This one was to give you full attention and credit. I see that you want to move to Canada or Europe too, happy?

Of course it was, but it just happens to be a completely unnecessary exageration that wasn't even remotely close. Usually exagerations somewhat make sense.
There is no need to exagerate the number 2 is what I'm saying, so rather you are a complete dumbass for exagerating the number. Now if you'd excuse me, this argument is stupid, and chances are it is pointless to argue with you any way.steve-O wrote:if u cant catch on to a 2 being turn into a 50 then ure a complete dumbass. I have some of my own reasons for criticizing the U.S. Ashamed is too severe a word to use for me though. I feel some disappointment in certain aspects of American society; one of which is rampant materialism, but that's a Western flaw in general. But, since I was born here I have some loyalty to the place. That has less to do with flag-waving patriotism and more to do with a sense of home. There's a difference.ritz627 wrote:

But with that said, I am not jumping on any bandwagon here, this was a conclusion I came to by myselft. I don't like what it has become, pure and sample, I am just plain ashamed of it.
Yea, I kind of am a perfectionist a little, I can't let somethings go. I definitely agree with you there though, but the only thing I would have to say is that as each year passes by, I feel myself growing less and less loyal to the country in which I was born. I live in Connecticut, and as you can imagine, materialism is pretty large here.Machus wrote:I have some of my own reasons for criticizing the U.S. Ashamed is too severe a word to use for me though. Who are you again? Try not to interrupt for no reason whatsoever. Yes, I'll admit, my post was a little arrogant, and for that I deserve some resistance, but to justify this, me and him were both being a little arrogant, so before you insult me, you probably should do the same to him.Huckleberryhound wrote:How bout you get 2 punches on the chin ?ritz627 wrote:There is no need to exagerate the number 2 is what I'm saying, so rather you are a complete dumbass for exagerating the number. British lives are lost because of American foreign policy and the world in which we live has been made a more dangerous place by American hegemonic advances. That's pretty fucking vital to me. American foreign policy affects virtually everyone on the planet. You're not isolationist anymore kiddo.Machus wrote:A country, place, or person that isn't vitally important to you in some way doesn't warrant so much attention.
Bullshit. Any examples? We're perfectly able to point out our own flaws, the flaws in our governments and in our policy. I think you'll find if you read the vast vast majority of American responses in this thread it isn'r us who can't take criticism.Machus wrote:BTW, it's always funny when Europeans and Canadians go out of their way to express disdain for American arrogance and misguided pride by...making certain to make a point of talking about their own superior traits.

I'm sorry, I read your post wrong, I seem to be doing that a good amount in this forum, maybe its because I'm going on 5 hours of sleep. I'm going to bed now. Sorry once again. I was just giving an example where changing 2 to 50 would not be such an acceptable exageration, and thus backing up your point.
How about 2 punches on the chin
How about 50 ?
The forum said public when i entered, i guess there must be some private void i entered that i was unaware....my apologies.
Who am i ?
Some people call me the space cowboy
Some call me the gangster of love
Some people call me maurice.
More or less, yeah. I think the anti-american crowd loves to complain.steve-O wrote:I just cant stand all these anti-american people out there. What have we ever done to u or your country? We don't complain. We talk about America, most likely in a more negative way, but even more so we talk about ways we feel it could be improved. It's a matter of opinion. We aren't so much "anti-America", as we are "anti-America in recent history". America has the power to change itself, it'll take a considerable amount of work, but we are people who feel it needs to be changed.Jenos Ridan wrote:More or less, yeah. Well that's because brits tend to have a more depressing world view than Americans.Guiscard wrote:Bullshit. Any examples? Alot of things aren't right with america. But, then, every one of the top 10 nations has some pretty messed up stuff happening in them. Just look at France (convulsive shudder).ritz627 wrote:We don't complain. We talk about America, most likely in a more negative way, but even more so we talk about ways we feel it could be improved. Its the similar to people who are anti-abortion, or anti-gay marraige. Although I would disagree with these people, I acknoweldge that they are not complaining, rather stating their opinions on the matter.
