New York State Championship starts today. The greatest team in the world, Red Bull New York, take on some semi-pro teams like Rochester and Long Island and rip them to shreds. :D

Red Bull New York 4-0 Long Island FC (3 divisions below MLS)
Juan Pablo Angel shows why he's the best player in MLS again with 3 goals and an assist. Then again what else could you possibly expect?

For him to have not been shite at Aston villa?

shows the gulf in class that an average prem player is the MLS' best.

booooo (top of the league still)

I thought it would have been hilarious if the after match interviewer had asked if strachan was going to Sunderland

i see he spat his dummy out the other day. soft twat. :D
He's not the only one.

that's hilarious, but that quite a few years back Hugh.
True but I couldn't resist.

Celtic 2-0 Villireal.

Good result even if it was agianst a weakened side, we played some of our best football this season shame it came at the wrong time. We'll be back next year and im sure we (and rangers too) will do better. Good luck to the 4 English sides, your pretty much garunteed another final. (go barca! mwahhahaha)

I'm sure the Football League was as good as the MLS 13 years in right?

Man City 0 Everton 1

fooking shite, last minute goal. we're in shit street at the moment. don't know who'll want to come to us in January. on paper we have a few easier games coming up, fingers crossed we can win a few of them.

Dundee United 2 Rangers 2

not a bad draw as the Terriers are playing well. well taken goal by Lafferty for the equaliser. sellick could only manage a draw at home to Hearts, so still only 4 points behind.

Racing Santander 3 Man City 1

lost 3-1, but still topped the group. got quite a few injury worries now. struggling for a centre forward. what wa funny about last nights game was the faces of the Santander fans when City scored in the last minute. they thought if they won 3-0 they were through, but PSG beat Twente 4-0 and went through instead. :D who would of thought at the start of the gmes Schalke would finish bottom.

Spurs managed to scrape through. only drawing 2-2 after being 2-0 down.

West Bromwich Albion 2 Man City 1

for fucksake. what a pile of shit we were. surely Hughes has to realise soon that Darius Vassell is a complete wanker and needs to be shot. Gelson Fernandes runs about like a headless chicken. Didi Hamman may not have the agility of Fernandes, but he can pass a ball without giving it away too many times.

who will want to join us, bottom 3 and struggling. we might get some greedy fooker for the dosh, but no one who has ambition at the moment will want to come. :( good back heel by Caiceido to get us back in it, only for an injury time goal to win it for the baggies.

on a brighter note. Rangers 1 Hibernian 0
Kris Boyd once again. =D>

Keep saying it and one day you'll be right.

Stockport up to 5th after a win over my brothers team, Bristol Rovers. I'm beginning to get worried we might be promoted. Ahhhhhh, no money, no real expectations apart from survival and we still keep pulling it off. God, I love this game. :D

Don't we all? Too bad it won't happen. I would sack Hughes if he can't get them out of bottom 5 in a couple weeks but I can't think of someone to replace him right now.

Except that all of the top tier teams have had rich contributors at one point. It's just Chelsea and Manchester City have a relatively new rich contributor.

Oh and good luck with that pcm. If I were you I would be hoping that Arsenal make it into the top 4

Celtic won the european cup with a team worth about 10p and with players all from within 20 miles of Glasgow, that is now impossible. On about 10 mil a season Celtic would be lucky to get to the quarters nowadays.

Yes everyone has had contributors but none quite as harsh as City and Chelsea's. Chelski were paying millions and millions on anyone and everyone they could as Man City are about to do. People like abramovitvh and abu dabi need to be taught that this is RL not football manager and they should stop playing around with football. Look at Hearts they took investment Romanov and soon lost their best players and a bunch of managers because he was trying to pick the team himself.

That's debatable.

And yes this is real life. How does that stop them from wanting to carve out their own legacy? Every club has had their own contributors, why is they can't?

Because they don't really care about the football, the players or the managers. They just want their name up in lights their greedy, I bet you anything that Hughes wont last till the end of the season and Scolari will be gone within two years.

Romanov was a bit of a loony though. he DID pick the team at one stage, that's why George Burley left. i think the Abu Dhabi Royal family hav a bit more business savvy than Romanov.

i know where you're coming from Hugh and you're right money has ruined the game in part, but you need these vast quantities to try to even break into the top 4. now can say Villa are doing well, but even they have splashd the cash. Randy Lerner has put in quite a lot of dosh.

Really?
I've tried to search the internet to discover exactly what Villa have spent in recent seasons, but cant find a straightforward list of 'who they bought / what they cost / in date order.'

All I can see from whats in front of my eyes, is that Martin O'Neil is the sort of manager that brings out the best in average players. His time at Leicester was the reason that team stayed in the premiership like they did.

From what I can see is that he's got a very english team, and I don't care what anyone says - a team of primarily one language, helps everyone understand when a player shouts out instructions.

top scoring members of villa so far this season:
Player Goals
1 G. Agbonlahor 9 - English
2 A. Young 5 - English
J. Carew 5 - Norwegian
4 S. Sidwell 3 - English
5 G. Barry 2 - English
6 L. Young 1 - English
M. Laursen 1 - Danish
N. Reo-Coker 1 - English

Looking pretty English to me!
