That's the point. By falling, one can entice the referee into making a favorable call, so one's team can gain an advantage. other times, the ref may unjustly punish an opponent, which still benefits the actor. I acknowledge the tangible benefit of falling on the ground. I will continue to not acknowledge any benefits from writing on the ground in fake pain. Isn't there a potentially disastrous result if a player writhes on the ground? What if the referee does not call a penalty? Play continues and you have a player doing the Curly on the ground.
