Hmm...maybe you could try to use a think Yellow stroke round the (bolder than other cities/regions) Roma font to emphasise its importance? I think it would look better than an underline.

Still finding the map too bright in certain places like islands the brightnes stands out more than others!!
Also noticed you have pixelated borders and also overlaps. By overlaps i mean were the border has been drawn and has spilled into the country.
Im also unsure of the bonuses that you have employed like the ROMA bonus. Do you get 2 extra armies for holding that place?
Would like to say that this map could knock of the europe map because ithnk the gameplay and graphics look a whole lot better. Im just concerned that players in general are going to be put of by the glow of the map which would be a crying shame

icemonkey wrote:I think the picture of the romans looks really awesome, but the filling in the territories looks really bad. Its such a stock fade, its looks really MS paintish to me when compared to the picture you included. Could you add some texture or something to the filling on the territories instead of the fade, I think that would look a lot better. Also maybe change the colors so they aren't so flourescent?
I am also against this. I like the surreal feeling to it that makes the empire look 'perfect'.

I love it. You might want to make the bonus attached to the capitals slgithly less. The person who starts out with Rome has a giant advantage with a boost of 2. Besides that, I can't wait for it to be playable.

What if Rome was made to start neutral? That probably would work better than lowering its bonus.

I think that might be the plan

Indeed. The three capitals will start neutral.

Change the name of the continent Byzantium. That gives it the same name as the city in the XML, and the city is a continent on it's own. I can't think of a name at the moment, but this is a problem.

It could be Eastern Empire, or something similar.

I suggest you call that continent Asia Minor.

I had thought of that, but I thought that only referred to the peninsula on which Turkey rests.

Yes, you are right. But there is no name for the continent which Guiscard created as he added other territories further to the East. The best name I can think of is Asia Minor, which at least was the name of most of the territories in that continent.

Why not just "Asia"? It's a Latin word so wouldn't be incorrect.

Because that would be incorrect, as there is already other parts of Asia there.
Asia Minor would be most historically correct.

We're talking about renaming the pink, right? Asia can refer to
the East in Latin. Oriens, aurora, and ortus also can. Of all of them, "Asia" is probably the most fitting. Asia Minor refers to Turkey only, "Asia" could very well cover the eastern empire located on the modern continent of... Asia.

Hm, good point, I forgot those areas were joined up. I'm thinking about all these civilizations that lived there, but they're all in the wrong timeline. So I guess 'Asia' does fit.

Unrelated but still about this map, Corsica-Sardinia looks like the hyphen is a dividing line half of the way down Sardinia. Corsica et Sardinia is the proper term and
is what Wikipedia uses for the province.

Are you looking at the latest version of the map? It is Corsica et Sardinia in fact.

I like the idea of Oriens. Asia, although it can refer in general to the continent of Asia, or even just Asia Minor, was also the name given to the province formed from the kingdom of Pergamum, which is how it has already been used on the map.

But it wasn't called Oriens during the Romans. I would refrain from using it. I prefer Asia Minor even though some territories are not part of it.
