Your argument is flawed simply because,as has been pointed out by several others, abortion is NOT the key reason for the reduction in birthrates. It stands to reason that if a foetus is aborted it is because the child is not wanted, there are a myriad of reasons why this may be the case but abortion is the end product not the driving force. Not for the first time you are creating a spurious argument to camoflauge your real intent which is promotion of your moral viewpoint...cant you be honest ?Napoleon Ier wrote:http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/policy/ ... wales.html
193.000 extra potential members of the workforce [2006]. Instead, ageing workforce leads to the pension crisis. It isn't difficult arithmatic.
None of those were aborted for medical reasons then? What about to save the mother, which would take one person away from the workforce and add one to it?Napoleon Ier wrote:http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/policy/ ... wales.html

That's because that 5% is a bunch of lazy people living on wellfare. If my 16 yearold friends can get jobs at fastfood restraunts, or even some of the nicer restraunts in the Casinos, and my 17 year old friend can work at Hastings, and my other 17 year old frien can be the Manager at McDonalds, that other 5% of the population has no excuse but lazyness because the government allows them to sit on thier asses.Guiscard wrote:None of those were aborted for medical reasons then? Furthermore, how many of those potential workers would have been jobless? I mean, we don't have 100% employment do we? I was under the impression we had about 5% unemployment. So we have 5% of people not in work at the moment. And if abortions were a) illegal and b) didn't happen illegally (which is another argument entirely) we would simply have a greater level of unemployment, not a better economy. MORE people with job seekers allowance. The employment rate in the UK is increasing. We have more people in employment than ever. Unfortunately the unemployment rate is also increasing. We have an increasing population already. Your 193,000 would have no effect on that whatsoever...
And finally, the abortion rate given by statistics.gov.uk is 17.8 per 1,000 women. In the 1960s that was about the number of infant deaths. Now infant mortality is something like 4 or 5 for every 1000. How many people have we SAVED in terms of better healthcare? That comes close to equalling the abortion rate. Furthermore, our current level of healthcare allows people to work longer than ever before. Living longer means you make more contribution to the economy throughout your life.
In the face of all that how you can sit there an say that abortion is killing the economy is beyond my comprehension... Fair enough, rally against employment laws or immigrants pushing proper natives out of their jobs (as futiles as that argument may be), but this one simply has absolutely no grounding in reality! We still have unemployment.
Give this man a fucking medal. Way to miss the point...Mr_Adams wrote:That's because that 5% is a bunch of lazy people living on wellfare. Actually, many people do have trouble getting a job. These include the people who were fired and are considered too old for the job. (A big problem.) And those people who have to deal with racism. (People named Muhammed have more trouble getting an interview than those named Jack.)Mr_Adams wrote:

Indeed. Many of my peers have come across this problem after University. Luckily, I chose to stick at it permanently and never actually face the real world...Snorri1234 wrote:Even those people who are overqualified for most things. I know the argument about how you can't be overqualified, but many employers see it differently. They opt for a person they can depend on to work for longer at their company because those people can't easily get better jobs.

Yeah, it's a good thing I'm studying medicine so at least I'll have a guarantee of a job. At least I hope so.Guiscard wrote:Indeed. Many of my peers have come across this problem after University. Wow you are retarded. A couple of things, your 16 and 17 year old friends have jobs at those places because the legal wage for teenagers is a lot less than someone who is over 21, so ofcourse the employers will choose your friends. You wait til they turn 21, if they are still at the same employment, they will find themselves losing shifts to some 16 and 17 year oldsMr_Adams wrote:

ok, good argument, all I can say is that ya, all abortions should be ban with the exception of births which endanger the mother's life...Neoteny wrote:We're talking about abortion here? And I saw something about falling birth rates, which, as a biology major, I can't see as anything but a good thing at this point in our destruction of the world.
Just ignore me if I'm repeating anything that's already been said.

I don't like her policies by the way but you can decide for yourself.
Who the hell is Luns and why is he running for president?

I can't agree with that. Women will get abortions whether you ban them or not. I'd rather they get them done in a sterile hospital than some quack's house. Banning abortions will endanger mothers.Mr_Adams wrote:ok, good argument, all I can say is that ya, all abortions should be ban with the exception of births which endanger the mother's life...Neoteny wrote:We're talking about abortion here? How wonderfully ironic.Napoleon Ier wrote:Allowing abortions is legally condoning homicide. Abortion should be banned, and anyone profiting from illegally performing them be tried as in any murder case, and executed unless found to have performed the abortion for a reasonable excuse.
