So here we are. The longest day passed. In the northern hemisphere the nights are drawing in, while down south, they start to think about warmer weather, sunshine and good times.

And what has been happening in the cc asylum we all know and love, who's in and who's dim? What’s the hot topics and what's not?

A very hard week has passed dear reader, with lot's to talk about, oh yes indeed. But you won’t find it here…goodness no.

Well, the long running saga between Solo man and that anti hero JR finally came to a close. JR was spotted opening a bottle of the bubbly stuff when the news hit the streets late last week that Solo and Risky had been blocked from playing together, congrats to you JR, a long battle but I am sure you feel it worthwhile….however, don’t pour too much of the bubbly down JR, I see yet another re-evaluation pending…..

Wicked stepped in and closed the Klobber thread in cheating and abuse, saying it had turned into a bitch fest (whatever that may mean…) Meanwhile the mighty Klobber renews his Brig rank with a completely new set of new players….what an imagination!!!!!

I then read he is eschewing taking on some reasonably high ranker…absolutely eh Klobby!! I mean, after all, what’s the point of having a web if it attracts a bigger spider than you!!!!! In all honesty tho' a serious congrats to you Klobby…have you thought about writing comics by ay chance? With multiple personalities? Maybe the DC comic group is looking?

Up in GD, there was still much discussion about the new ratings…but I got bored of all the platitudes being issued by…oh yes old Solo man, and a few others, so had a rant or two. Well an old man has to vent his spleen from time to time you know!!!

Meanwhile some of the plebs were poking a stick at the Aristos on the site, now as you know dear reader; I am fairly relaxed about whoever turns up on my game door. I am happy to fight whoever. But an interesting point was made….what has happened to the top player? Has sugar snaps gone sour? I think we should be told. I am sure one of the Dutch contingent could tell us.

Firthy introduced us to his new whizz-bang avatar, and got it passed by my new compadre Gimil as safe for us mortals to view….I hate to tell you this firthy, but like Owen himself it looked to me like it said “I FART” …but take no notice of this old mans eyes.

Our dear Blitzys extra gongs thread still runs, with some great ideas. I think Blitzy should be awarded a great big gong, unique to him…can’t you think of something no one else has done Bitz? If you did, it would get this vote that’s for sure!

Talking of giving out Gongs, I would like to award one to a regular team partner Deliaselene. Now Delia puts up with a lot with an old bear like me, but this time I really set the bar high. With a stroke of the pen (metaphorically you understand) I issued the order…..Delia! Deploy your armies on E Africa and with all the strength you can muster, take out the large stack of blues. Well dear reader when I went back to the game, Delia had done the job! Well done Delia… (But you forgot to fort in your excitement) however…I forgive you. And I award you the dice congrats of the week.

Well dear reader, it is a short message from Fruitcake Manor this week. But if I have learnt one thing it is this. If you want to be a real player in life, then play, don’t pretend. You see, the thing is, you can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time….but you can never fool all the people all the time.

I’m off to sample particularly nice Port.

this is 1st time I start a new general disc. topic.
I have joined Premium Mem. almost 1 year ago. (2007-07-25, 20:17:22 according to lack)

I used to play 30+ games at any time.... now, less than 10. Have 5 going at the moment..
CC is the only site I have Premium for.
Why I joined:

20%[ game of Risk (I am not terribly fond of the game, but I'll play it for few minutes during lunch or tea)
15% Forum browsing, asking or answering questions (This is one of the very few Game Sites where opposing view is tolerated in the Forum-sometimes.)
10% huge and ever-growing Map selection. (I only play few World2.1, N.America, 8Thoughts, Classic of course.... have no time for Doodle, never will play ConquerMan..)
10% Tournaments play (Have won one Tournament, was fun for a while.... I am still in finals in one Tournament... but, that is not really my cup of tea)
45% ability to comment on the game, ability to leave comments for the players ( I do not know if I have ever left a -ve... I could be wrong... I preferred to comment on positive aspects of my opponents game (win or lose). Reading comments left by others was always interesting and helpful, some were funny, some cheeky, some downright stupid...

Finally! Somebody gets it! It's not about actually playing the game. It's about enduring a bunch of rigged dice and cheating multis on Maps that used to be better until the Admins came along and mucked it all up because nobody ever came to the Foundry to comment, because, well, why the hell would anyone go to the foundry? Sorry, I got lost there for a minute. It's about outlasting all that, win or lose, for the intense, large, togethercolored instant where we get to say things about other players.

Thank you Hvrat, thank you. Finally, finally somebody gets it.

I would like to congratulate all those who make lists to see who should be congratulated. So while on the subject, I suppose those who should be congratulated, are congratulated, and not just by those who are congratulating them because they deserve congratulations on the lists but by everyone else, oh yes indeed, so this general congratulations should cover all those congratulations they will not be receiving from those who really do, actually, want to deliver their congratulations but cannot do so for one reason or another.....now where was I?

Oh yes....furthermore, all those who make those lists should be congratulated for bringing the requirement of congratulations to everyone else. This is a thankless task, so one should perhaps congratulate them for being so brave as well I suppose, after all, I for one, have never seen a list brought about by anyone who may just be looking for self congratulatory praise, which is a good thing, because they do not need this, as everyone else should already be congratulating them for being thoroughly good eggs anyway.

So in summary, and just to remind everyone again. This is a general congratulations to all those who deserve congratulations, whether they have received those congratulations or not. And if they have already received those congratulations, then they can feel doubly all of a twitter through receiving yet another congratulations on behalf of all those who have not yet managed to congratulate them and who wanted to. This way they can now sleep easy, knowing all the congratulations, they undoubtedly deserve are, in fact, safely delivered.

Caveat: This 'congratulations' post, within the General Congratulations thread does not, unfortunately, cover those who would prefer not to deliver congratulations. Those congratulations will, sadly and regrettably, have to remain withdrawn. Those who would hold on to their congratulations, and not give them to those who deserve those congratulations, are also worthy of congratulations. After all, their not giving congratulations, does mean that those congratulations given by others are worth so much more as congratulations than they may be otherwise. So even though this congratulatory caveat is needed, it also must really include, the previously mentioned congratulations to the aforementioned non deliverers of congratulations as well as all those others who deserve congratulations whether by pursuing them themselves through means obvious or subtle, or not.

Now that's much better isn't it, cleared all those congratulatory message mix ups out.

Another week races by and already it seems that the summer is dashing by here in the northern hemisphere.

Before I start, let me tell you something that happened to me this week out there in the world.

On Monday, I found to my horror that I was to attend no less then 6 meetings over the next 5 days. I asked my Secretary (her of the long legs and even longer eyelashes) why this was, and could she recommend a good euthanasia outfit. She smiled sweetly, she always does, and just told me to live with it….so off I dutifully went. Well dear reader, by Monday afternoon, a snooze was desperately needed. I wondered if I would get away with it during this first meeting, to no avail, my assistant kept kicking me under the table whenever she saw my eyelids dropping. I staggered out of there at 6pm after a marathon discussion mainly held by the self opinionated imbecile on the other side of the desk. I took my assistant for a drink and explained why she should have let me sleep….my snores would have stopped that man in his tracks I’ll be bound!!! Anyway, by Wednesday lunchtime, I was searching for gun with which to shoot myself as life was losing its value and then hurrah! I remembered a lovely little note stencilled on A4 sitting in the dim recesses of my old battered briefcase, given to me by my own dear Father many years ago before he joined the great Boardroom in the sky. I opened it up with loud clicks, just as we were being told about the upswing downloaded durable marketability of something or other, much to the chagrin of the speaker…I studiously avoided eye contact with him and started heaving papers out on the table in front of me and with a flourish withdrew said paper. Passing it to my Assistant, I asked her to make the requisite copies…she looked at me wide eyed, shaking her head from side to side…I insisted. So off she went, and returned a minute later. I took them and carefully wrote the name of every delegate in turn on the copies. Then I reloaded my battered briefcase and with loud snaps locked it again. After what seemed another eternity it came to questions and comments. I put my hand up (well I am quite housetrained) and the speaker asked what I had to say…my response was “Actually very little, but I thought this would be of interest to everyone.” I then stood (and so did my Assistant, she knew, after all, what was coming). I walked around the table handing out the sheet of paper to everyone, and said thank you. The paper simply said

“Bored with your insignificant life? Tired of being alone? Want to meet other people and make friends? Hold a meeting”

I exited the building PDQ and headed back to my office…it was time to earn a living again…and yes, I cancelled all my other meetings for the week….and after all, I was sure it was time for my turns on cc.

Talking of which…what has been happening this week? Well the news story on all the headers has to be that old Multi Assassin, JR and his decision to go for gold. Now this is the guy who has made the front page his home for as long as it takes oil to form from plankton! The questions were on everyone’s lips? Has he lost his marbles? Whatever is he up to? Then it became apparent. The decision had been made; JR was going for more medals. I must tell you reader, I went and bought myself a very special bottle of the vintage stuff on the back of that, having bet myself some weeks back that JR would not just sit for his number of gongs. Congrats to you JR for what has to be the most bizarre decision made this week (however, I know better and am sure this is but a temporary measure, so the front pagers had better keep their powder dry as the points take will be hurt while you feed avariciously on the way back up.)

The dice Gods have been particularly cantankerous and capricious it seems this week, with threads starting again. It does make yours truly wonder you know. Do players wander through their cc experience and never think about these spectacular runs of poor dice….maybe they think it will always be ok and they will forever bask in the sunshine of success? Do I care? Not really, but a congrats to those Gods for bringing yet more stress to some recently. Especially poor Ancient...now here is a player who had a rant after seeing his games go to the dogs with some poor dice runs, then saw his rant moved to FW sharpish by that mod we all love…wicked. Now, although this thread started some time back, it has proved interesting with a post by a new player ‘amitsa’.
