Sounds great but could we keep the old Captain, Major and Colonel insignias?

We don't have to stick with one set of insignia, we can mix and match to get the desired icons, e.g. like keeping the swords and diamonds and such.

If we are doing that let me be the first to say..major and captain of sullys are no good.. and ugly... so we could use it there.. and instead of 4 stars, we should give field marshall the hat.

the lieutenant bar is fine, but other than that..

also maybe hat for colonel then bump the stars down..

4 stars seems odd to me.

lol

i think u will find that the british hav lost many wars. the british empire stretched over something stupid like a third of the world and now how big is it? we hav lost a hell of a lot of wars even if it was just someone sayin a mean word and us running out of their country :D

as for the ranks they are great. i like the second set although i think the insignia could b changed a bit...

i think you could use this:
New Recruit N/A N/A
Private 5 finished games 1
Sergeant 10 finished games 1000
Lieutenant 20 finished games 1200
Captain 40 finished games 1400
Major 60 finished games 1600
Colonel 100 finished games 2000
Bragiadier General 150 finished games 2500
Major General 200 finished games 3000
Lieutenant General 250 finished games 3500
General 300 finished games 4000
General of Army(General of Conquerclub) 500 finished games 5000[we can change this to sully's idea for best player in CC]

another thing just a question but will the gold be yellow and silver as grey like how u presented it or will it be gold and silver cause that silver/grey i dont think looks nice

Although ramping the points in the way you have seems to make sense - much like a MOG with its experience. It doesn't work in the same way - with say a Massive Online Game you get more points the higher you are so they increase the gap between ranks. With CC the higher you are the harder it is to squeeze points so a 200 differential for a Lieutenant is much easier than a 200 differential for a Major.

sully800 wrote:Okay, as AK said, I've been working on some new rank ideas for a while now. Originally, the ones I proposed were closely based on the American military ranks. So I changed the insignia for captain, major and colonel to the American insignia. This was mostly because I didn't see the British insignia where lack found to original diamond/swords/crown.

Image

One big change is the silver vs. gold icons. The silver would denote free members and the gold would be for premium members. This distinction was something lack said he wanted in one of the other threads.

Also you will notice I added a rank of 'scout' for anyone below 800 which I think is an important distinction that we don't currently have for lowerl level players. Andy suggested we change the name for that rank to 'cadet' which I prefer as well (I just didn't redo the image). I also added the 'corporal' rank in its proper place which shifts everything above that one level so the point levels are not the same. Then at the top the ranks of brigadier, field marshall and wardlord were added. These eliminated the 1000 point jump to the highest rank, increased the ranks up to the 4000 point level and added a rank for first place so even the people at the top will have something to strive for if they are already over 4000.

Then I made a few small changes because I think the new icons for major and colonel were a little confusing, and it doesn't matter if the insignia accurately matches the military rank. In the below image I changed the icons so you would go from 1 up to 3 horizontal bars, and then straight into the stars for the upper ranks. I think this system is much less confusing because there aren't as many symbols to remember and the order of the ranks is easy to see and understand. However I also like the current swords/diamond for the major/captain ranks so another idea is to use everything in this image but keep the current icons for those two ranks.

Image

So let's have some discussion about the new images, the new point levels, and anything else involved. If there are any other changes or ideas out there I would like to hear them. Just remember these are not the finalized rank changes or anything like that, so don't just complain about how much you hate them....talk about how to improve them!

WoW Sully, excellent job :D

Not that it really matters anything, but in fact a lieutenant colonel is a low colonel. :)

It all looks great - if you should ever need to see the British insignia, however, Wikipedia is the place to turn;

i love the idea of the leaders battling it out for the first place symbol. i think it will be everyone's goal and definately increase the competitiveness of the sight. everyone needs to have a reachable goal so the more ranks there are the more goals to be set meaning the more people are going to stay interested. great job guys really love the sight

I like the idea of introducing new ranks, however I would prefer the British insignia to be used. Maybe we could have a poll to decide?

Sorry about the lack of updates. I just recently got photoshop and I was going to try to make the icons look better- more metallic and detailed. But I'm still figuring stuff out. If anyone with more experience would like to help with the graphics that's fine...I know some photoshop wizards could probably do a better job than me in a fraction of the time.

"sully800", so far so good and actions speak louder than words. I look forward to your FINAL recommendations. Be motivated and not be discouraged by the "armchair" judges, please.

Is anything being done about this? Cuz I think it would be a nice addition to the site.
