Sultan, I’ve got to agree with Woodruff. Have you ever even raised kids? It's obvious you have never been a foster parent and raised anyone else's. You have no concept of the real abuse that goes on.

Sounds like they’re in way over their heads, but “worst people in the world”? Get real.

Some of the punishments seem excessive, and probably are, but it’s easy to judge from a safe distance. The worst thing is when they got frustrated with having their lives threatened by false accusations of sexual abuse (which can get you killed in prison besides ruining your life in other ways) and yelled at the kid that they'd be happy if she left. Bingo! You're right, that was wrong. You're supposed to stay perfectly calm and always express unconditional love and acceptance, directing your comments only at the behavior. They failed. Words like that can leave emotional scars. You never do anything like that with the foster and adopted kids you have raised, right?

Being a parent, being a mandated abuse reporter, these people are, sadly, nothing close to the "worst people ever". (I did go to the site, once I realized it was not so bad).

Further, the whole tone, particularly the obvious references to homosexuality make the entire thing questionable. It really seems like someone wanting to provide "evidence" of how horrible homosexuals are as foster parents.

That said, there are jerks of all stripes. I repeat what I said earlier. Anyone concerned should at least check into the idea of becoming a Foster Parent. It is a big commitment and definitely not for everyone. But, it in no way requires perfection. Chances are, even at your worst, you would be better than putting a kid in Juvenile detention because there is no other space.

they tell her (and the whole world), straight-up, that they're not saving for her college -- even though they can afford it -- because she's not "college material."

they wake her up at midnight to do chores.

and these are the things they are willing to admit to in public. imagine the things they say behind closed doors.

when she's actually living up to their impossibly high standards, they chalk it up to manipulation and wonder out loud how long it will last. is it any wonder danielle lashes out?

i'm not even going to get into the arbitrary and over-strict nature of their punishments, which are a lot crazier than simply revoking use of an MP3 player. these people are awful parents. awful. they got a bug up their ass to raise a troubled child and now that they've seen the depths of the challenge inherent to that, they've become bitter, spiteful, and mean.

i mean, jesus, how broken do you have to be to make a blog dedicated to how terrible your daughter is? just think about that for a second. these should be private issues, and the parents are airing them for the whole internet. now how do you think danielle would react if she found out about it? do you think it would be very conducive to solving her behavioral issues? i don't.

Here is a very true story:
Take the case of 3-year-old Eli Johnson, who was apparently beaten to death last year for wetting his pants. Now, his mother and her boyfriend are in jail.

Oklahoma City police say the boyfriend told them that he slapped Eli and punched him in the stomach with his fist. And that he got so angry he blacked out, and came to when he had Eli's head stuck in the water of the toilet.

"He was just a sweet little boy," says Eli's great grandmother, Evelyn Johnson. "I just cannot imagine anybody doing such a thing."

Johnson says she had suspected Eli was being abused and reported her suspicions to authorities almost a year before he died. "The signs really started about the time they decided they wanted to potty train him," she says.

The result of her report? Eli's mother was required to take an anger-management class before she could get her son back. Now she and her boyfriend are awaiting trial for first-degree murder, to which both have pleaded not guilty

I think this thread got really silly. Some people are downplaying this because they can think of "worse people." Others are downplaying it because they have the notion that physical abuse, and even death, are worse than years and years of emotional abuse. This is arguable. The simple fact is that these people are terrible parents and should not be taking care of the kid. I think Sultan's classification of them as the worst people stems not from their actual abuse, which is bad enough, but the fact that they are so baldfaced about discussing it publicly. The people who use their infants as a baseball bat and all those other clean-cut physical abuse cases often show some sort of remorse. These people (assuming they are legit) show no inkling of regret other than that of deciding to take care of the girl. They should be ashamed of their actions (even if they don't beat the shit out of her) but they clearly do not. That's despicable.
