You know, it's interesting... this mockery of the Catholic's faith is weird. Why do you people care if they publically proclaim their faith as dictated by Catholic tradition?

Um, then wash it off?benmor78 wrote:They get a cross of ashes on their forehead on Ash Wednesday. I don't think prancing is necessarily any part of it, unless that's their normal bit.2dimes wrote:Ok so there's people that get that cross thing put on their head and prance around with it for a week or something?
I'm not Catholic, but I assume they wash it off at the end of the day. It's a public proclamation of faith.2dimes wrote:Um, then wash it off?benmor78 wrote:They get a cross of ashes on their forehead on Ash Wednesday. As is the application of cheese to the face. However, we never wash it off. It must wear off naturally.benmor78 wrote:It's a public proclamation of faith.
That's just crazy talk.Backglass wrote:As is the application of cheese to the face. However, we never wash it off. It must wear off naturally.benmor78 wrote:It's a public proclamation of faith.
It is the way of our people.
I could never give that up. even though I'm an athiest and don't practice lent, I still felt the need to post this.btownmeggy wrote:I thought about making this thread, but mine was going to have something to do with women's genitalia.

for lent, i'm giving up DRUGS AND ALHOCHOL!
i've been sober/drug-free for the 13 years, 4 months, 20 days, 20 hours, 16 minutes, and 32 seconds i've lived on this earth!
it will never "matter", since whichever day Jesus actually died on, it'll change year to year. i believe it was Good Friday (Friday itself counts as one day, and two more days to Easter Sunday).s.xkitten wrote:yeah well, i'm not trying to hijack the thread, i just never get a straight answer at school...i've gone to catholic school for nine years, and never gotten a straight answer on why we call it good Friday...also, what day was he actually crucified on? cause no one here can ever make up their mind with what day he was...was it Thursday (that would make it three days, as stated in the apostles creed) or was it Friday in the morning, and he died in the afternoon? was it Wednesday? i don't really have a reason why for that one, but its always brought up in the arguments

At first, I respected backglass' comments and opinions. I've reconsidered. When somebody goes out of their way to be insulting against someone else's beliefs, it's ridiculous.Backglass wrote:All I know is there are a few people at work to today who need to wash their face. Maybe tomorrow I will come to work with Limburger Cheese on my face and proclaim it a religious holiday. "Stinky Cheese Face" day.
Just remember...there are no rituals in christianity.
