I think most people are missing the point. We're not discouraging new recruits. When you deadbeat right off the back in round one, it messes up the flow of the game. I'm not saying this is the end all be all solution to the deadbeat problem. As long as there are rules, there will always be those who exploit them. This is just to help move the games along.

You still have your 3 missed turns, and if you get kicked out of the first round, go join another game, what's the problem?

What if we said that if you get kicked for missing the first round, you don't lose any points? That way if it's just some new person checking out the site, and after a few games they decide they want to stay, then they're not at a disadvantage.

Ideas!!! Don't just say you hate the idea because it's not going to fix the problem. Judge the idea on it's own merits.

 I'm shocked at how many people said yes in this poll, I fail to see how missing turns really benefits the player, mostly because I pick on anybody who misses a turn.
but change is always good and more control should be givin to the one creating the game. like
rank restrictions, missed turn multiliers, how many turns missed before being kicked, and how much time alloted for each move.

I check my moves 3-4 times daily, but I haven't much of a life, but I can see how someone with a shared computer (damn those room-mates!), a family, and a job with rotating hours could miss moves.

changes should be made to suit specific preferences, not to please the majority, this is reflected in the even split of yes/no in this poll

It used to bother me a lot, but after being here a while i realize that deadbeating is really the only problem on this site. That's pretty incredible when you stop and think about it. I mean we have a nice, laid back atmosphere, a lot of creativity in the different boards, and a good rating system. The multis and cheaters are dealt with efficiently by the staff, and the forums are a kick. So if deadbeating is the only flaw in the system here, i think i can live with that.

I think kicking people for missing a single turn is an extremely bad idea because in doubles and tripples games if eveyone on a team misses the first turn but one person that guy is going to be completely dominating since kicked players turn into their partner(s) colors.

Same fucking thing, DO NOT JOIN A GAME YOU ARE NOT READY TO PLAY!
It is a game after all and MOST PEOPLE ARE HERE TO PLAY!

If you're going away on vacation and won't have web access? Don't join a game when you know you won't be around to participate. Enjoy your holiday and play here when you return.

Someone joins a game they can't play? Give 'em the boot and they can play later
when they are actually ready.

Keep it easy with the caps lock mate… My eyes hurt… :D

Well. There are many reasons why people miss turns. Now and then I loose Internet connection for more than 24 hours. It can be due to hang-overs, vacations, just forgetting the time, being delayed etc. etc. Shit happens. Now, who suffers for this? Only me and my team really. We all know that when we sign up for a game that each player has 24 hours to complete his move. Especially with people playing from different time zones, one can rarely expect a quick game. Delays will more often than not occur. But, again, the rest of the players aren’t hurt really. It’s the guy (and his team) who misses the turn who looses an opportunity to do something constructive.

Once again, we're not saying this is the end to missing turns. There are many reasons for missing turns and no one is saying that everytime you miss a turn you're a deadbeat and should be kicked. But the first round is crucial to the whole game, and I have to agree with oVo's post, Don't join if you don't want to play. Get kicked for missing the first round and go join another game.

And if the problem is that it creates an unfair advantage in doubles and triples games, then maybe the rule should only apply to singles games.
