JERUSALEM — A Palestinian gunman killed at least four people in an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood outside of Tel Aviv on Tuesday night, the latest in a surge of attacks in Israel this month.
The shooting was the fifth attack in less than two weeks, and heightened fears of a wave of violence over the next month, when the rare convergence of Ramadan, Passover and Easter is expected to raises tensions further between Israelis and Palestinians.
A spokesman for Magen David Adom, an Israeli emergency medical service, said that his colleagues had counted four victims and were taking a fifth to the hospital in serious condition.
The gunman arrived in Bnei Brak, a city on the eastern edge of Tel Aviv, by motorcycle or scooter, before continuing on foot and firing at passers-by with what appeared to be a heavy automatic weapon, witnesses told Kan, the Israeli public broadcaster.
A disgusting act occurred not far from where I live:
Henrico, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com). The West End Islamic Center in Henrico, located on Shady Grove Avenue, says that they were vandalized on Saturday afternoon. They say on a Facebook post that it happened sometime between 3:30 and 4:30 Saturday afternoon.
They add that any attack on a house of worship feels like an assault on the community and they ask that police investigate this as a hate crime.
Henrico Police say they were called to the scene at 4:45 Saturday afternoon and noticed trash strewn about inside the facility, graffiti, tables and chairs flipped, as well as broken and shattered glass windows. Police don't have any suspects and the center says they don't have any surveillance video of any possible suspects.
The fact that this happened the weekend of Ramadhan, Passover, and Easter makes this horrible act even more disgusting. I especially agree with the statement:

It's okay though, we know how active Western powers are in punishing countries who commit human rights abuses so it's only a matter of time until crippling sanctions are put on Israel, right?
