Counting Costa Rica as part of North Am, I have the score 0-2-2. Mexico (tied Poland, 0-0 score) and USA (1-1 with Wales) have ties, Canada loses 0-1 to Belgium and Costa Rica lost 0-7 to Spain. And yes, USA has only goal for North Am, so far.ConfederateSS wrote:----------------------Oh.... I do not see Denmark or Greenland as part of North American Countries, on your list, HR.HitRed wrote:https://www.countryaah.com/north-american-countries/

------------ Denmark is 10th on HR's list right after Belgium....jusplay4fun wrote:I do not see Denmark or Greenland as part of North American Countries, on your list, HR.HitRed wrote:https://www.countryaah.com/north-american-countries/
I did see Costa Rica as part of North America.
Greenland (Greenlandic: Kalaallit Nunaat, pronounced [kalaːɬit nʉnaːt]; Danish: Grønland, pronounced [ˈkʁɶnˌlænˀ]) is an island country in North America that is part of the Kingdom of Denmark.[13] It is located between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. Greenland is the world's largest island.[d] It is one of three constituent countries that form the Kingdom of Denmark, along with Denmark and the Faroe Islands; the citizens of these countries are all citizens of Denmark and the European Union.

So, Geographically, Greenland is part of the North Am continent, but is politically part of Denmark and thus Europe.

I'd make my count based on confederations rather than real geography since we are discussing football teams. I mean Costa Rica compete with North and Central America in World Cup qualifiers. Based on my logic, Australia would count as Asia.jusplay4fun wrote:Most geographers and most people consider Central America as part of the North American continent. It is not part of South America (although POLITICALLY some may argue it is more like South Am.) NOR is it its own SEPARATE continent. So, I argue that Costa Rica is part of North America and thus North Am has TWO LOSSES.
At best, counting Denmark, North Am is 0-2-3.
However, few people count Denmark as part of North Am, as ConfedSS is attempting to do. Denmark, even though it owns Greenland as part of its Kingdom, is in Europe and does and SHOULD NOT count as part of North America.
To use an analogy, Some consider Oceania as part of Australian continent, a REAL STRETCH, literally and figuratively. Thus, since the USA has Hawaii, we should count as part of the Australian continent. AND that is SILLY.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CONCACAFThe Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football,[1][a] abbreviated as CONCACAF (/ˈkɒnkəkæf/ KON-kə-kaf; typeset for branding purposes since 2018 as Concacaf),[2] is one of FIFA's six continental governing bodies for association football. Its 41 member associations represent countries and territories mainly in North America, including the Caribbean and Central America, and, due to geopolitical reasons, three nations from the Guianas subregion of South America—Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana (an overseas region of France).[3] The CONCACAF's primary functions are to organize competitions for national teams and clubs, and to conduct the World Cup and Women's World Cup qualifying tournaments.
The CONCACAF was founded in its current form on 18 September 1961 in Mexico City, Mexico, with the merger of the NAFC and the CCCF, which made it one of the then five, now six, continental confederations affiliated with FIFA. Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Netherlands Antilles (Curaçao, Aruba), Nicaragua, Panama, Suriname and the United States were founding members.[4]
The CONCACAF is the third-most successful FIFA confederation in the men's game.

I think we are at a point where it's wise to not be too confident. If betting was allowed in my country, I'd have tried my lock by betting on some underdogs. I wouldn't bet on USA against England though.bigtoughralf wrote:If you're this rocked by the draw against Wales then England are really going to piss on your Thanksgiving turkey tomorrow. ALL Americans? Do you mean ConfedSS and who else? I was commenting on ConfedSS 's lack of geopolitical nuances as they relate to International Futbol (FIFA World Cup) and geography. And I am the one telling ConfedSS that Denmark, via Greenland, SHOULD NOT count toward North America standings. So again, ralph does not know what he discusses, and/or purposefully misleads others.HitRed wrote:bigtoughralf wrote:You know the US national team sucks when all the Americans are in here talking up the performance of 'North America' as a whole, using a definition of N America that includes Denmark.

It was such a battle when they met in World Cup 1998. This one should be even more intense because it's a fight for a progress to the next round. In 1998, their match was the second one played and their chances were too slim, and it was still a battle overshadowed by politics.bigtoughralf wrote:England back to their usual piss-awful selves. At least Iran are looking good to make it to the knockouts over USA, that'll be funny.
