I have no issue with it for strategy. If you have a big map and can tell an opponent has built large forces I see no problem mentioning in the game chat that BLUE has built a large army up north you may want to attack him. I won't give specific details away, but will try to let people know what I found. But only if it benefits me.

another thread on the same topic on back to back days... interesting... however, this particular thread has become more of a "MORE REASONS TO AVOID FOG OF WAR" thread, than anything else... funny how this issue divides the community. i get both sides of the argument, and i choose not to play fog anymore...-0

Not really a problem...Sometimes its a must if you have a player out numbering the others.

Personally, anyone revealing fog information on other players would wind up on my "ignore" list. But, I am not into the whole cutthroat thing anyway.

I"ve revealed information before that I was unsure about, it was world 2.1 and I knew that a player was at one of a couple continents, but didn't know exactly which.
So when someone else asked where everyone was, I said "blue is at oceania", on a hunch, and blue graciously confirmed it soon afterwards.

i would not want to play with a person who gives away info during a fog of war game. it really goes against the spirit and integrity of the game.

I can't stand people telling us where others are in a FoW map. It is actually fairly easy to work out who has what if you are watching the game logs.

I will put anyone on the ignore list if they do this, and have already.

I would expect to be on others' ignore list because of it.

It's only easy if they're getting bonuses.

Well,

My 2 pennies. Revealing any information about opponents in a FOW game is against the spirit of FOW. Anyone intentionally revealing information in an FOW game will imidiately get to my ignore list.

But, I don't aprove of any deals/truces or agreements of any kind in any game. The ones who do that will end up on my ignore list as well. Thus I can be considered somehow an extremist on the point.

Maybe it's time to enable an option of - grim/talkative game to enable the different players chose their style of game.
