Are you sure we can't have a perma-ban list somewhere? I had been wondering what happened to xtra. I only know 3 perma-bans for sure right now.

Back in the CC Dreamtime when the forums were young and the community was crystalising out of the twisting intangible.

Suggestions to inject any element of a community approval as a requirement for passing new mods, or retaining old ones, have been consistently rejected by the powers that be.

Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing or a good thing, I'm just prempting this honourable gentleman's logical next question.

Overall, I appreciate that the mods are trying to at least enforce some type of standard in this forum. We should all be able to rip each others' arguments to shreds without getting too personal and calling each other names. We are, after all, one big RISK-loving dysfunctional internet community.

I remember when people originally couldn't stand Xtra's posts and asked for the mods to intervene. Now, we're all saying "welcome back, mate" to Xtra and ganging up on the mods. I guess this falls under the category of be careful what you wish for.

So anyway, I wish that Xtra could be allowed back. I hardly ever agree with him but he provoked some debate which inspired some criticial thinking on some subjects. I did learn some things as a result of Backglass' refutations. I'm sure people here get upset when I say I believe in God and voted for George W. Bush, but it at least provokes people to defend why they believe what they believe or why they disagree with me. In the process, don't we learn at least a little bit about others' beliefs? But he has got to agree to follow whatever rules the mods have put in place. If he can't do that, then we've got to deal with it. Mods are humans and make mistakes, even when it comes to enforcing rules.

Having said all that...I hate Virginia Tech and wish the Hokies an early exit from this year's March Madness. Go IU!!

First off you have your definitions confused. Fircoal is a spammer, similar to a troll perhaps but definitely different. Trolls come in a variety of manners. They all, however, universally piss off the entire community. Whether they do that through spam is debatable. The difference between people like suggs, firth, and norse and trolls is that while they can sometimes be dicks they do contribute, at least minimally, to the forum. All xtra did, give or take a handful of posts, was post 9/11 conspiracy garbage. It pissed people off and he was banned. That defines a troll.

Honestly yeah he was before. People change. There was nothing wrong with a Thread who you gonna vote for. Nothing. To judge him on things he did in the past is Crap. I have nothing against Norse. Back in the Day yeah he did do all that crap. He came back and was Very, Very Mild compared to then. Maybe if you knew facts before you spouted your mouth you wouldn't have to pull your foot out or mouth every time you opened it. Secondly, he was still bad. Mild to before, but he was still bad. He still said Beaner, and he still spouted crap about 9/11 and Ron Paul. He did it so much that he convinced Jay of it. He was a troll, first and foremost.

I love how you always criticize me for being a hypocrite when you are one yourself. You say Twill is a Dick, while that is true, you are one too. And Senfive if you didn't notice a lot of people dislike Xtra and what he posted, that's more trollish. Not many people complain about what and how I post. If I'm considered a troll, then why would I have only of gotten one ban? (For too many polls at one time.) It's obviously not because the mods like me, as that's far from the truth.

I really don't like the idea of permabanning. I don't think xtra did anything to deserve that. He is adamant that he was never a multi and never posted porn.

Xtra posted a lot of 9-11 threads, and some people didn't want to talk about the subject, they would rather turn a blind eye and not hear that side of the debate and complain about it every time a like thread is posted. In my experience, if I don't want to be included in a discussion, then I just don't post...it's pretty simple to do. Once I remember this thread about aborting down's syndrome babies...I answered, "No I wouldn't abort because I don't believe in abortion." And that was it, I didn't want to talk about it anymore, but that stupid thread floated around for I don't know how many days (shit, it might still be going on for all I know).

Xtra's permaban isn't quite understood. He got permabanned for flaming outside of flame wars...S-T-U-P-I-D!

Then Wicked says that he was a multi and also posted porn, but as of yet, the evidence for this isn't forthcoming.

My opinion is that some of the mods just didn't like xtra, and they looked for any little minute excuse to get him out of the forums. It is their right to include and disallow whomever they want, but I do not think that some of their decisions are best representing ConquerClub at times.

I think it is fair, and I had heard this before over the Norse fiasco, that CC allow some type of grading system in which a player can keep track of if he is starting to skate on thin ice. I mean xtra called soundout a jock sniffing ball licker (or something of that ilk)...and the mods used that as an excuse to permaban him. I do believe that that was a little extreme.

Twill told me that I got banned because I didn't listen to Wicked, which was total BS because I DID listen to Wicked and I quit spamming Free Norse even though Sunday seemed like a good Free Norse Day! I didn't post anymore spam after Wicked scolded me, but Twill banned me for the day anyway.

I replied to Twill's msg and told him. Twill said he checked the time tables and said I was right, but I deserved at least a 12hour ban anyway for posting Free Norse spam.

Now, if I flame someone out of flame wars (and what exactly constitutes flaming outside of flame wars anyway?), will Twill and the mods hold my miniscule spamming incident against me and give me a permaban?

If anything, I think that Xtra should be let back...at the worst, CC should only ban you for the duration of your membership for the year, and then it should be put up for review, if that individual wants to come back to the forums...kind of like a parole hearing of sorts.

I just don't agree with permabanning, people should be allowed a chance to come back.

The permaban should only be for the duration of a players membership, and then at the time of membership renewal, the banned party can put in a request to be unbanned. The mods can review the request and decide if the request deserves any merit. If the player is allowed back in, then if he screws up again, then he gets banned again for the rest of his membership. Then he can go up for review at the time of membership renewal again, if the player puts in a request to be unbanned.

I would like to have Xtra and Norse back again someday. It was awesome to have Xtra back for the day, but it was too bad Twill banned me for those twelve hours, because I didn't get to respond to Xtra's posts and pvt msgs soon enough before Xtra got the boot again (some type of glitch or mistake was made, I guess).

I would hope that Twill and the Mods take my suggestions seriously. I just think it seems more fair to people that still want to remit and renew their membership that they be allowed the chance to be let back in through a professional CC ban review committee.

I did see however, racist remarks... Which he did stop... And I saw him posting his conspiracy stuff in threads that had nothing to do with the topic of the thread. It seemed Like anyway he could get a word in about his strong convictions, he would.

Norse however, I saw his racist stuff. I guess these guys are used as examples of what happens when the rules aren't followed.

I do know that what xtra was saying about not being told where he was making his mistakes and that has happened to many people.

I was told by Wicked that the mods are now letting people know where there offenses are when they receive a nasty gram from the mods.

As far as Xtra, he is like the people who are blowing up Abortion Clinics. He is dramatic and just wants everyone to know about the Government. He has been conditioned to be that way. Just like a cult. However, he would say that non-believers have been conditioned to believe everything the government says and turn a blind eye.

I saw he was asked politely by the Higher powers of CC to keep his views to only 1 thread, and he didn't do it.

I am not saying he deserves a ban, that is not up to me to decide thank goodness.

The Mods are running this site the way the owner wants them to do it. I think they do a good job, for only being human.

That's not saying I agree with banishment. I have no opinion. I don't like seeing people be banned though.
