I've frequently wondered about this scenario... although I usually don't get much past this dialogue:

Me: Hmmm, so we sure were lucky to avoid death in that plane-crash huh?
Random Dude: Yeah, we sure were...
Me: So, where are you from?

Me: Look, I'm not coming onto you or anything, but do I recognise your face from somewhere?
