I'm cutting my teeth on Antarctica first. Motherboard is more complex graphically in terms of layers etc, and I just upgraded from Photoshop 7 to Photoshop CS

Yeah I know, a bit of a jump, so I'm just making sure I'm down with all the new CS stuff before I do anything stupid (like irreversibly use Smart Layers and Filters, not realising that Smart Filters is something completely different that is only in CS3

)

Good chance I'll change it to this.

I know, but it's less confusing for players if I name them according to what plugs into them.

The COM off COM chip, im guessing is a DB9 plug on a standard RS232 port? I'd consider changing it to RS232 as it keeps inline with all the other names you've got going on.
On a real motherboard, Southside / Northside -> various different types of COM Chips -> pretty much everything (HDDs, Peripherals, I/O). I've simplified it for gameplay purposes. Quite a bit of what I've put in doesn't actually make sense circuitry-wise, but I have to make it able to be played, so I've had to cut some corners and that sort of thing. So, yes I apologise to anyone who understands motherboards and sees errors - it's for gameplay purposes, not through lack of understanding

I love everything else, its sound and is simple to follow (ok, i'm a geek) and im looking forward to playing the boys at work on this one (IT company we are geeks)
Good to hear, but Antarctica will be out before this one

Sorry i ment Reset jumper/plug , cause you've got the +12v i thought there might be a reset
... you'd need if it was running windows ...
How it may work, every where can attack re-set, reset can attack no-where, 1 extra army to deploy anywhere per round.

Yeah I've been thinking about this sort of thing with the BIOS, like you can flash the BIOS, Battery is +1 per turn. Not sure, I'll have a think about possibilities. At the moment, my concern with this map is that continents are gonna be very hard to hold

I haven't looked at this for a bit, and I was rather crestfallen not much had changed. Are you working on a different graphics version to expand the motherboard or some-such?

I'm putting most of my effort into Antarctica map at the moment. It's about 3-4 hours work away from being "finished" for the first time (ie - all graphics done, tentative bonuses, legends, etc). Once that one gets into the Foundry, I'll come back to this one.

With not much more tweaking this map could be a "battle of the bits" where players represent little virus programs fighting each other from places where they could be stored or using as conduits. The following suggestions were all created with that in mind. Feel free to use or discard suggestions as you see fit, they're merely suggestions and would make the map more appealing to me, but not necessarily to everyone.
I would assume you're trying to avoid easy choke points with the "cross wiring" going on with the sound and keyboard/mouse. With just a couple territories attached though, it seems like it would be fine if they were choked off by a chip and were USB only. That would clean up the paths a little bit. At that point I would omit the PS/2 ports and chip to save room.
I would also suggest perhaps a firewire card instead of the sound card, and have it hooked up to a digital camera. It removes the duplicate audio connection and adds more interesting stuff described below.
If you make the ethernet connect to a wireless router, you could allow players to assault the ePod, Printer, and the proposed digital camera from there since some of each of those device types are wireless network capable now.
A change to a multi-core chip, perhaps a quad core, and would remove the heatsink and fan from the stack since programs can't exist in those. This again fits into my premise of warring computer viruses, and would create a high value bonus target that would be harder to hold. You could add an L2 cache element in the middle of the CPU cores that would interconnect them all to increase its territory count to 5 and increase the difficulty to retain, since the NS chipset would have connections to all four cores.
Anything that goes to external media should be able to assault other external media. Once its out there, it could be changed in format by other devices and appear elsewhere. This would link Floppy, DVD, CD, USB, and a flash card if you wanted to add that. The Digital camera and possibly printer would have connections to the flash card.
I'd say if you add the wireless connections and the external media assault paths, you can probably omit the power section altogether, which for data assaults would fit in with the logic.
It would be a major series of changes, and a lot of work. I do think the map might be a lot more clear in the end though.
I really dig the concept, and I wouldn't have gone to such lengths otherwise. Either way, I'll play it if it ever becomes a reality.

It'll become a reality, I'm just struggling with getting Antarctica some recognition at this point.

This map has been
moved into retirement, as it would appear that development has stalled.
If the mapmaker wants to continue with the map, then one of the CAs will be able to help put the thread back into the Foundry system
