The laws vary from state to state. You can find a list of which states are at which age on the internets, I'm sure. I don't know where to find one, because I don't waste my time with chicks under 21. Primarily because they can't drink under 21, and that just creates headaches all around.

If the drinking age were lowered to 18, I might change my habits.

In Illinois, if the boy is seventeen, and the girl is sixteen or under, it CAN be tried as Statutory Rape. I've seen it... It was crazy... she was 16..... Dude got 5 years. He was a good friend of mine. The parents were the ones who pushed it. They hated the guy and said he was a bad influence.

But I had forgotten, the Supreme Court just overturned the death penalty in cases of child-rape. But they said nothing about the death penalty for adult-rape(stupid?). So I think you would only get the death penalty in the case of statutory against a teenager(s) or an actual adult(s).
In Georgia the max penalty for SOLICITING sex with a minor is 10 years. If I'm 18 and ask a 17 year old to have sex, I can get locked up for ten years. TEN YEARS!
Up here, it's County Jail, a big fine, felony, and maybe you have to sign up for the sex offender list.(thank you Dateline's To Catch A Preditor.)

18 is the nationwide law, but some places have "community standards" laws which raise the age to 21. You can't even buy pornography untill your 21 in those places. But you can join the Army! Out here the age is 18 to have consented sex, but 21 to but pornography. Crazy huh?

They told her to go to her room, which she did, and she crawled under her blankets, on her bed. While his two friends plundered the valuables, he stood guard over the girl by waiting in the door frame to her room. He never entered the room, or even actually removed anything from the house.
That's how he got on the list. A registered sex offender, the same in the eyes of his neihbors as a rapist or pedophile.
