Who here collects anything because it makes them happy? Hammers? Octode rectifiers? Glass figurines? Well I collect guns....I use them to target shoot and enjoy...I use them safely and they are inaccessible to intruders and accessible only to me. I have a couple "assault" rifles whick now will double in value with the silly ban (again).

You'd really hate the next weapon I plan on buying...it is completely useless in the real world.....lol.

As for guns coming in from Mexico, it's absolutely true. Guns are all but banned in Mexico, hence the "strong laws" but their efforts in enforcing these laws are MASSIVELY unsuccessful . Take a look at this recent gun raid, one of the largest in history.

This article talks about how more people have died in the Mexican Drug war than in Iraq in less time than the Iraq war has been going on and their using the kinds of weapons that you CAN'T get in the US legally. They're smuggled in from South American countries and make their way to the US.

Clip holds 7, but I keep an extra in the chamber. First two rounds are FMJ, the rest are hollow point. Its a 9 mil kurz... which is really a .380.

In WIlmington NC we confiscate on average 4 assault rifles a week from convicted felons. A majority of the time they are SKS's, older AK 47's and newer 74's, and converted AR-15's. These rifles are always stolen from someone who has legally purchased them. These guns have been banned before and they are still on the streets. Sentencing is never light in these cases in my courtroom and most are also charged under federal statues. Since the tougher gun laws have been instituted here in the US, a dramatic decrease in crime using automatic weapons did happen many years ago, but there has been no decrease of crime using semi's.

It is well known here locally that I strongly believe in gun rights for our citizens. Personally I own nine different sig sauer's and carry at least one everywhere I go. I do collect and have a nice collection of assault weapons from my days in the military ranging from FN-LAR's to various HK's. Since I know I will never be given a federal appointment, I will state, I personally see no reason for the upcoming ban.

I find it amazing that a friend in Fayetteville NC is selling on average 15 AR-15's a day at a cost of a grand each in anticipation of the ban.
