I really love the style of the map, and the graphics look great so far. You seem to have a lot of lakes and rivers, perhaps make the theme of a small area of swamps?

The wall seems a bit unlike the rest of the map. I would suggest making it more of a 'wall' (meaning make it less like bricks).

I like Neon's swamp idea. as for walls, maybe something like this?

Obviously it'll be hard to replicate on such a small scale, but something of the sort — a not-exactly-perfect stone wall — would work well I believe.

having the bodies of water as territories could make gameplay more interesting for this map :D

I know this is really early, and this isn't even in the drafting room yet - but I still would like a couple of comments. My plans are to balance out the bonus regions more. I'm also going to but a big river right down the center of the map, between the yellow/green and yellow/red areas, leading to that lake. Connect with a few with bridges. Add a theme, not an overwhelming theme, but just to give it an edge. But in the meantime, any feedback on the wall? Is it too sharp?

nice idea i like both kinds of walls, but i gotta ask whats the 888's mean. you could make it more complacated by adding on. you could add somthing like boats that give you negativ reenforcements that let you attack across water

The 888's are there because thats where the numbers will go, the extra 8 is for the color code version

It looks kind of boring. The best part about big maps is that you can isolate yourself, turtle on a small bonus. But here you have 10+ territory continents. By the time anyone holds one it will be half in the bag.

If you are going to have a big map, have big quanities of continents, not big in territories.

i think a map from the imagination of rjbeals is a great idea.. i would expect it to be visually appealing. I think more of the map makers need to take on fantasy geographical maps . =D . I agree with mibi that the map needs more bonus regions . I look forward to watching this map through the foundry..

I like the look of this map very much. Artistically, It is superior to anything coming out of the foundry lately. I especially like the old map feel with the burnt edges. Why don't you see what it looks like with with that effect, more pronounced. But only on the outside interior of the continents. Also I will bet you a dollar, that the water would look excellent on this map, if it were BLACK. This combination of effects may work well for this map.

=D> It looks like a great start. good luck with this one. :D

All good feedback - thanks. Mibi, I intend to break the bonus regions up for sure. I don't expect to have regions that big.

You could make the lakes and such playable with a neutral count of 10 or so. Realistically, there are very few natual barriers to invading armies. Land or sea. It's just that by sea takes more effort.

Still trying to nail down my concept.

I think I'm going to create several same-color bonus regions in each color (for example, there will be 3 in yellow, each with 8 territories). The legend will be simple, for each 8-territ sector, you receive +4 bonus, own the entire colored region, you receive +15? or some nonsense. Maybe no other bonus for owning full color - thats pretty impossible anyway. Still thinking about impassables.

Another great design by RJ.
A thought for you brother. If you are going to have the bridges in relief, (I like,by the way), maybe a small bevel on the land areas would be appropriate ?
Good job, as always. 8-)

Thanks p&b - I experimented with the bevel, but I think it looks better flat.

i like the idea of a big map. i'm fine with you creating it from your own imagination. but i'm not too keen on the graphics looking similar to centerscape.

that being said, i'm sure you can make another theme and idea and it will be great. looking forward to where this is going because i'm a big fan of big maps

Let me think about this. This is surely in the same style as centerscape, but to me different enough to stand on it's own. In a way I don't mind the graphics being the same, and in a way I do.

i think the theme feels different to me, but the graphical style feels related... i'm not sure how similar, i don't claim to be an expert, but deff. related. Personally, i don't think it's a bad thing.

It is a good looking start... color scheme is easy on the eyes
and I like the idea of another 100+ territory map too.
