This dude who ran against Obama for Illinois State Senate claims his actions reveal that he's clearly a Communist and needs to be stopped before the country falls apart. No, don't laugh, it isn't funny in the slightest!

It is not so bad. Obama has had the pods sent out with the recovery package. State officials will place them at key locations in your neighborhoods. Just go to sleep and in the morning you will find everything is wonderful.

A temporary government program is an oxymoron.

In this instance, I agree. It's painfully obvious that all of this happened because the people in charge wanted it to happen... So why would we fix their mess by giving them even more control and power? I believe this is exactly what Thomas Jefferson warned Americans about when he said "a central bank printing money is more dangerous to American freedoms than a standing army."
That's an approximate qoute but you get the idea.
And who is so stupid to say "the best way to save our freedom is through socialism!" I mean, C'mon.
jonesthecurl wrote:Rationing?
If you're saying that rationing is a temporary program that our government has stopped, then I agree IN PART. Because the laws that the government put in place during the 2nd world war and the Great Depression are still in place. The governmnet still has the authority to confiscate, gold, silver, food, and other items from private citizens, they just don't do it. Besides, this is something that would stiffle the economy, and the rich wouldn't want that exactly.
It's more accurate to say "don't give the government more power, because they will never give it back."

Don't understand where all the fear comes from, Britain has had socialist elements to it's style of government since just after the 2nd world war and our standard of living is equal to the US's, roughly.
I think you're getting socialists and bogey men mixed up.
Bear in mind that not all types of socialism are intrusive or even Marxist (the national health service is the result of one of these, and a very nice result too) and also the fact that the reason we are in a global recession (depression, possibly) is down to the free market and capitalism.

I believe that the public is in favor of both universal health care and education. It's the politicains that are against it.
It's the reorganization of the banking system that we are throwing a fit about. The public keeps saying NO NO NO!!! and the politicans keep saying YES YES YES!!!

I think 50% of my taxes should go to education. There would be less idiots then, which is a good thing. Plus they would make more money since they aren't stupid, which in turns makes more tax revenue.

Hate to disappoint you, but uneducated and stupid are not the same thing. In addition, educated and smart are similarly not the same thing.
