Stage 12



Pleased that the worktops went in without a hitch i decided (drunkenly) to pose for the camera with my Makita and sealent gun.

As you can see, I've added the doors to a few units and the cans of stella are all gone!

Stage 14



Just fitted the cooker and the hob. (all wiring in by me) handles on. drawer unit made and fitted. (took a while for me to figure out the holes to whack screws into to get the drawers in the right place)

Can't see any of what I want!!! Pedro we want to follow your progress (and maybe see you glued to the floor in the process or something!)

You don't have rental outfits over there where you could rent a router for a day? Around these parts a guy can rent whatever he needs. When I need cable TV, I go rent climbing spikes, put on a hardhat and climb the pole and hook it up myself

Shouldn't you have painted the walls first or are you going for the rustic methlab look?

Trying to figure out where the little black plastic leg clippy thingies attach to the black plasic legs in the dark. Yeah, this was really good fun. I never swore at all, under that unit.

Stage 16



Now after adding the worktops - it made me realise how out the walls were, so i had to plaster a layer to get the wall level with the back of the straight worktop. (it was hot this night, so please forgive me for stripping off)

I managed to chose the tile colour with little opposition from Julie. this was met with a great deal of surprise from the male staff in the tile shop!

Now I'm just tiling. this seemed to take ages each night.

All tiles now stuck on. All i need to do next is get my 38 week gone girlfriend to just sponge off the grout when i start grouting.

Looks like some good work. I lived in a bedsit at one point with a kitchen about that size.

I live in a big house now, but the kitchen isn't a lot bigger - about this time last year I redesigned it to use the space better. (I didn't do the work - I am very useful in a kitchen, but only after the bugger's built).

We took up the floor, took the walls back to the wood/brickwork, and removed the ceiling. Everything moved - plumbing, wiring, lighting, even the doors! It's a small room but it originally had four entrances. I blocked up three of them (only the route to the cellar remained) and put a new door where the serving hatch used to be. I'm just about to get some more work done, mainly more storage space.

I couldn't find a cooker as nice as the one I had in the UK however without paying an enormous amount.

What is that white thing mounted on the wall with the copper pipes coming out of the bottom (water heater?). Do you have your clothes washer in your kitchen?

It's called a combination boiler. it supplies the hot water to the taps and the radiators.

I will box in the pipes so they wont be seen, but am investigating a couple of people for some stainless steel, to match handles, tap, cooker etc.

I was sure looking at a thread on kitchen renovation would be pointless, but the comments about the "Widow-Maker" on page 1 made it so so worth it.

Thanks for the offer, but I figured it would be cheaper to get it made here and quicker in the long run.

Now I've fitted the fridge and got my pregnant girlfriend to fill it with beer.

Papering the walls (I missed out on getting the photos of Julie wiping off the grout with a sponge - she was moaning like f*ck about being in no fit state to be doing manual work)

So I've been wanting to ask;...What is the white appliance type thing you're papering around? Water heater?
