What is a republic? Educate me please. I don't think 6 years in university (studying literature, history and the humanities) was sufficient. I remain ignorant.

But at least I'm Canadian, and as such, am somewhat relieved at our relatively low redneck population.

And on a side note, what is one to make of MeDeFe's avatar? :-s

What you are assuming is that the elections are valid. That the winner isn't predetermined. This is your first mistake.

Well, Confederate States wasn't much more original, so if you didn't like the original name, you probably won't be pleased with any others.

I mean that "United States"...or "Confederate State"..or "Joined States"..or "Together States" or "Federation of States" or something like that it's not a name for a Country. A name is like...Germany (Federal Republic of ), Congo (Republic of ), China (People's Republic of), Uruguay(Eastern Republic of).....That's a name.

I mean..you people even doesn't have an appropiate way to call yourself (I don't know what is the english word of Gentilcio). You call yourself as Americans, but America is a continent, and you are just in the north part of it. Call yourself Northamericans, since you identity is not much clear

Well, when you put it all together, it comes out to the states on the American continents that joined together. It's a name. Perhaps not the most creative, but I think that requiring a proper name that doesn't really have any descriptive connotation and serves merely to unite a group of people under a geographical banner is pretentious anyway. And I think "Deutschland" is just as descriptive as USA.

lol it is unpossible that no one commented on that picture awhile ago.

I figured it was too obvious to make a comment on.

I've exchanged PMs with two people about it, one of whom wanted to know whether I was in the military, but neither of them had recognized where I got it from.

This probably means that most of the people who have seen the image, but didn't recognize it were too busy staring at the naked guy.

It's reprehensible.

But on the other hand, perhaps a fitting symbol for the country that perpetrated it.

It wasn't the country. It was the gays in the country's military that perpetrated it.

Yes, yes, I get it. Our country was originally designed to give the states the highest authority, and for the federal government to serve the states, but nowadays federal law is the highest law of the land. Conservatives despise all that, and whatnot.

I'm not stupid, I was making a joke (or two; PANHANDLERS HAHA).

Appearantly they only despise it when a conservative is not in the white house.

We had to deal with 8 years of Bush, all thanks to bible thumping morons. How many national protests were there? 0?
And yet we can't even get through 100 days of Obama without "Tea Parties" going off everywhere. The hardcore conservatives aren't even listening anymore. They just have their fingers in their ears going "lalalalalalaalaaalalalalaa."
What I want to know from those "patriots," is where they were when all this stuff was happening? The party is over, you missed it.

And now look at Texas... biggest crybabies of them all. Can't have their way anymore so they aren't going to participate? And for what reason? Imaginary tax hikes that are coming down the pipe? Who was that Senator or Congressman from Texas who said Obama plans to raise taxes by 40%?
Obama's only tax increase directly placed on anyone is a 37% tax increase on people with incomes of over $250,000.

The governor of Texas said that if those taxes come, then Texas will consider leaving the Union. His plan? To use Texas's lawful right to leave the union. Unfortunitly for Honorable Governor dumbass, he doesn't know what he just said. As per the "treaty" signed that brought texas into the Union, Texas can only leave with Congressional approval. And how does he expect to get that?
His other plan, equally brilliant, is to split Texas up into 5 states, to increase the number of conservative votes. Yeah, that will happen. Seriously Honorable Governor Dumbass, did you come up with that on your own?

Texas is not defending themselves against tyranny, they are the tyranny.
