Yes but not because of the Jewish backlash... just through the normal passage of the ages... or in Germany's case because they ended up fighting the entire world. What I find interesting about the world's Jewish population, including but not limited to Israelis, is that this is a group which by all reasonable accounts should not exist.
Whether or not there's a God I don't know, but if there is one I think he would have to have a hand in the sustaining of Israel. If not I guess that makes Jews both the luckiest and unluckiest people on earth
