Is it my eyes or is the East Elf Village a little blurry? Rotations didn't work so well by the looks of it. Looked better in GIMP.

The aim is 2010, since most maps take about a year. I am trying to push hard on this, and if they allow a limited edition window around xmas for this year, that would be cool. I have not sourced xml help yet, but this is a fairly simple map for xml, so might be able to score that myself.

Well you should switch runway & control around. Just makes sense. Do you have a gift shop? Candy store? xmas trees? Need to give it a xmas feel. Lights - garland - candy canes that kind of stuff. And don't forget the fruit cake.

Control was put in the middle like the airports, I think it is due to security reasons. I'm not sure why you think it makes sense given you made no reasons. Have a look at Pearl Harbor and where they are there in relation to one another.

Ornaments N' Things was suggested above and I think I'll get rid of Midnight Sun and replace it with that Gift Shop type feel.

There is a Candy Cane Bakery, that's the building I'm currently working on.

There could certainly be some Xmas tree lights in the National Park. That would certainly Spruce up that area from being a large green mass of trees. I have some reindeer to put in there as well.

Garland ---- we will have to see, I'm going for a somewhat realistic theme, but I will certainly have to watch it from going too cheesy. Garland could work on the trees or maybe as a map frame/outline. I'm thinking trees would likely be best to mix up the National Park area.

Pearl Harbor uses the word Control, maybe I'll change it to "Terminal" or "HOHOHO International"

See how much creativity could be on this map? :D

Am i looking at map wrong or missing a version?

I see runway in the middle - not control.

Seeing as how most of the largest airports (at least in the US) are named after people (O'Hare, JFK, LaGuardia, Dulles, etc.), I'd like to suggest that you name the airport after someone. It could be anyone at all. ;)

Where is this map's design brief?

I just realized they put the threads back. I find it disappointing that 48 territ's were recommended previously, and is now not a "Golden Number"

The following are the "golden numbers" lower than 200, which create a drop that in all (or all except 5/7p) forms of the game require two or three territories to be taken from a player before they are disadvantaged due to territory count and happening to not go first: 24-35, 42, 43, 44, 52, 53, 57, 58, 59, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, (78), (79), 80, (88), (89), 104, 114, 115, 116, (138), (139), 140, 141, 142, 143, 160, 161, 176, 177, 178, 179, 186, 187, 188

Where the total number of territories on the map is not equal to one of these "golden numbers", then expect to be asked to create/merge territories or to code some as neutral in order to ensure that the total number of starting territories is balanced for fair play.
Now I have to add 4 more territs? Best solution to my 48 territ problem?

You don't even know what a design brief is?

Count yourself lucky.

Anyway, as for the map... I suggest you'd start working on the territory names next. Try to find a font that suits the theme. Dafont.com has lots of good ones.

Then the continents and the legend...

Or like in England, You could name it after a major city; London Luton, London Gatwick ect... ;)

I still haven't heard back on the # of territories question that I had. Right now there are 48 which is not an optimal amount under the new guidance. Not sure if I have to change that.

Most of those regions are huge. I suggest you cut some of them in half to try and get up to around 60 regions.

Seeing how this isn't exactly a normal map, I'd like to see some special gameplay factors. Perhaps some of the outside regions could lose troops due to cold or you could include a "Santa's House" (or "Santa's Hoes") region with a +1 auto-deploy. Hell, you could even have a "Launch the spirit of Christmas by holding a factory, Santa, the reindeer pen plus the runway" objective.
