This is easy for me - A Knight's Tale - great soundtrack.
...I prefer a man who will burn the flag and then wrap himself in the Constitution to a man who will burn the Constitution and then wrap himself in the flag.

Also, I haven't even thought about buying the OST, but I thought Public Enemies made excellent use of this song:

Otis Taylor- Ten Million Slaves

Of course, that's a Michael Mann movie. Dude just gets it about matching the perfect music to the perfect images. I don't really like Audioslave, but I loved the way pieces of the song were used in Collateral.

The silver fox crosses the road. And Tom Cruise's character is the 'silver fox'. There was an episode of Miami Vice, first season, about an assassin that shows up named 'The Silver Fox'. Anyway, point is, Michael Mann rules.

Quintin Tarentino, like pimpdave, is a connoisseur of music. He has a giant "listening room" full of music. So the sound tracts to his films are always good.

It's a techno song. Some dude yells it during the music. It's awesome.

but,
I thought about this all night.
My vote goes to Apocalypse Now. When I hear the music from the film on the radio or in other films, the images that appear in my head are from the Apocalypse Now. And to me, that is a great Movie Soundtrack.

It's also worth mentioning the album Passion by Peter Gabriel. It was the score he wrote for The Last Temptation of Christ. Regardless of what you might think of the film, the album features some of Gabriel's least understood and most underrated compositions.

It truly does stand alone. Check it out. As any Gabriel fan is aware, the guy loves to use Christian mythological imagery in his music, from Solsbury Hill to the overt themes expressed in Red Rain or Mercy Street.

The guy was obviously raised knowing his Catechism, like many of the rest of us.
