This is actually a fairly common thought, oft held by conspiracy theorists and the like as well. I know for a fact that books that are written for new vegans give the very same reason for why everyone thinks veganism is weird. Sort of follows the whole 'they just don't understand why we're so great' philosophy, and yeah that can get annoying.
