My brother and I went to the game last night. Before the game, we sat down in the bar in the stadium (McFadden's) to watch the Eagles game. At some point in the 4th quarter, I remarked to my brother that even if the Phillies won, if the Eagles lost, I would be disappointed with the day. And I was (and remain) disappointed.

Philadelphia - football trumps baseball, but pessimism trumps all.

at the moment, i could care less about the eagles. i thought the game was funny. my dad was pissed off but i was laughing. they made the worst qb in football look like Ken Stabler. i thought i was watching the '76 oakland raider defense.

they'll never win a championship

my focus is the phillies and then when they're finished the Flyers. screw the eagles

The NFL is only at a simmer while the MLB is at a boil,
Glad to see the Angels snap out of their hitting funk
and end the Yankees postseason streak at 5.

4 pitch walk to lead off the inning then hit the next batter. Then Rollins drilled a double into the gap, perf.

To be honest, I don't want either one of them to win. I despise the Yankees, and I don't think Philadelphia deserves back-to-back championships.

Cliff Lee dominates the Yankees for nine innings
and the Phillies take Game One in New York 6-1.
The winner of the first game has won the last six World Series.

the Phillies don't deserve back to back championships?
that makes absolutely sense. and frankly its a stupid statement
if they win back to back then they deserve it.

I'm a Phillies fan but i dont think im being biased. I know baseball. The Phillies are clearly the better team

People analyze this by looking at the payroll and the "names", the Phillies are a championship team, they have all the intangibles.

Phillies in 5

I'm jsut pissed that im flying tommorrow for a job in Phoenix. I'll probably miss the parade

I have to think Phillies win at this point. I think they'll come up with wins against Burnett tomorrow and I think they can win 2 out of 3 in Philly. Though Yankees should give them a run for their money.

Phillies in 5 and if not 5 phillies in 7.

The Phillies are a great "team" who want to make history.

The yankees are just a bunch of hired mercenaries who had their best years on other teams and received their big payday by signing with the yankees.

There was a scout who picked the Phillies players over the yankees at every position except 3B. People who blindly say the yankees are overwhelming favorite are just listening to the NY propaganda machine.

It's clear to me the Phillies are the better team

I think they're both good teams and this "should" be a good series
and ALL pro ball players are mercenaries... Phillies included.

Um... there was a scout to pick every player on every team
and "a scout" is one person's opinion.

the point being about the "scout" is that all the casual fans who really don't know anything just blindly assume the yankees are going to win the series because they're the yankees and the ny propaganda media tells you to believe that.

They completely disrespect the phillies by ignoring the fact that
A) they're the world champs
b) they have the better team

Not much run support though from what little I was able to catch Burnett looked sharp.

It's always about the pitching and how the Ump calls them.

The Phillies may be the best team in baseball, but the Yankees have a 3 game win streak and they're facing elimination. Which in the present tense (pun intended) makes them look like last year's champs.
