I'll have to think on that one...maybe me thinks it would detract from the clarity of the legend with all those region titles...yes!??
i agree- dont do anything to make the map cluttered/confusing.
Thanks for your support Enigma.
I really think that after all's been said and done the map is looking quite nice now and doesn't need additions.

thnx for posting a large map! i dislike small maps so its nice to see the big version (what I play on)...
I only have one more point! then im done I swear! (not really)
-the bridge between mareeba-->emerald ck doesnt quite fade in right...specifically on the emerald ck border...
otherwise its looking great! im ready to play all these new maps that are getting really close!

-to be extremely picky- is there any way to put an outline on the rivers in the legend like there is on the map? and maybe dull the sand one more point.
-try to make all the army circles as freestanding as possible, for example, move the coffee estates circle a pixel to the right. and cairns down and left. mission bch up and left. babinda down and left. it just makes things look more balanced. the ones like palm cove which you cant do anything about are fine.
-and since youve put more variety elsewhere, maybe a little more difference in the mountains between tinaroo dam and mulgrave, since its right in the middle of the map. the one mountain in the very center top of topaz looks a little odd as well, like the point has been chopped off. could replace that with one of your pointier versions.
-maybe move the fitzroy is tree down a fraction, so its right on the edge of the island, and move the mission bch tree down a little so it rests on the bottom edge of the map.
-i still think "mission bch" should be "mission beach"
-could try adding a little variety to the tree icons by making them tilt slightly different directions, instead of all being at exactly the same angle
*flounders* this map looks beautiful. i applaud you, i think everyone would agree you have been one of the easiest cartographers to work with, graciously fixing things when needed, but also holding your ground on some things without being insulting. i think your attitude is whats made the map come so far so fast.

Changes will appear in V30 as above shortly.

I have no problems with this map except for the image behind the title. What is that exactly? I see a beach... but there is a big black blurry thing in the center. Also, I have no idea what or where the Cairns Coral Coast is.

I beleive it's a palm tree. Really dark, but a palm tree.
Or whatever tree the mapmaker want...

Enigma, thanks for your comments as above.
Seems though it is still time for development on the small map. Posting the large map gave food for though, but i don't want to be in a position again where many things are requested after I get the large map done.
I realise there will be small tweaks required on the large version, but not things like tree positions and army shadows; these can be sorted in the small map.
I've attended to all the requests you made as per the map below - best I thought, please let me know if there are more.
And for those who toyed in previous posts about the black palm tree in the middle of title photo - removed it. Hope this improves the Title.

Im sure first time players are going to appreciated the need for an atlas.

Yes Mibi, it is Four Mile Beach at Port Douglas (a real place in Northern Australia where lots of tourist go for holidays

) only with an artistic brush stroke applied as suggested by DiM, a couple of pages back. And the black bit in the middle is the base of a young palm tree. I thought this image worked in very well with the other dark blues in the legend. Hope this clears up your confusion.

good call on removing that palmtree from the title- it really looks better.
this map looks perfect to me. i play the small version anyway so i really dont care about tweaking the large one.
my last question is if the territory in the center bottom should be millaa millaa, or if the double name is a mistake.
then i say add the xml and
QUENCH!!

Looking good, in my opinion this map is very close to completion.
Just one minor thing. The blue used in the river in the legend doesnt match the blue on the map
edit: also, im a bit woried about the beach. It could work well but not as it is.

Enigma, no it is not an error - Millaa Millaa is the name of the town that territory is named after, it is an aboriginal/indigenous word meaning "wet wet" - yes it is very wet in this region as it rains for well near 3/4s of the year. It started as a logging town and then had its own dairy/cheese factory before all dairy factory operations were moved to Malanda for centralisation, where they remains today. However the region produces some of the richest dairy cream and milk in Australia, although Millaa Millaa cheese is no longer sold on the market. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your 'quench thought". That however remains in the hands of the "gods" so to speak.

your large map seems to be quite blurry. In particular, the mountains.

Bad Speler...how right you were! The blues were all different...how things do get changed over time with so many reproductions eh! Good pick up. Fixed.
The entire beach has been re-worked, so that beaches do not appear all the way along the coast line, and the islands have been similarly treated.
Hope this appeals in the V30 below.
