For younger kids, you can get them eating good stuff by making pictures with it.
I used to carve an apple and an orange into a picture of a fish among waving fronds of seaweed, or a clown face.
The eye can be made out of candy as an added incentive.

For president of the longest thread thread. Currently I am king but we as a group decided a democracy was better. So I'm running for president under the wolf party and skittles is running for the candy party.
