Well a coupla days ago I thought spring was here, but we have a predicted 4-10 inches snow tonight.
The curlson is praying for a snow day 'cos he hasn't finished his project, due tomorrow...

It's time for strike's graphic novel of the week.
This week's graphic novel is V For Vendetta. Picking up from where he left off with the Watchmen, Alan Moore (with the help of David Lloyd) has given us another excellent story. Mixing a top rate plot, highly developped, fairly realistic characters, and a brilliant plot devices, Alan Moore and David Lloyd turns his story into a brilliant piece of fiction. Cast in a futuristic UK where war has led to the rise of a new government where most people, radicals, homosexuals, and anyone who isn't white or christian (and probably a few groups I'm forgetting) have been cast out and/or killed this story is a must read for anyone and everyone, no exceptions, just don't expect it to be anything like the movie.
But don't take my word for it, listen to these highly respected critics.
The Wolfen press raves "V For Vendetta is a masterpeice that will keep you engaged to the very end."
The Lupo Times gives V For Vendetta 2 paws up.
The Curl express states "Alan Moore and David Lloyd use brilliant foreshadowing and parallelism to make V For Vendetta one of, if not the best graphic novels of our time"

V predates Watchmen. possibly not in graphic novel format, but the original V for Vendetta appeared as black-and-white installments in Warrior, a UK comic which also included MarvelMan, a collaboration by Moore and Alan Davies which ran at the same time as their reinventing of Captain Britain.
It was the legal challenge to the name MarvelMan by Marvel Comics which ruined the company that printed Warrior, even though the character of MarvelMan predated Marvel Comics (and even though the original character was little more than a British version of Captain Marvel (the "Shazam" one - MarvelMan's magic word was "Kimota"), whose copyright has never been owned by Marvel Comics. . They just couldn't afford the lawyers to enter the legal arena.
It was I believe at this point that Moore swore never to work for Marvel again.
V for Vendetta, and MarvelMan (now MiracleMan) later appeared as colour monthly comics.
It was many years before the classic "Two Alans" run on Captain Britain was available again.[/i]
If you want to read more Moore, MiracleMan or his run on Captain Britain would be good choices. But to see even earlier stuff, I would highly recommend Halo Jones and D.R. & Quinch.

But is the graphic novel as a whole fully formed after the Watchmen?
Either way, Ive been told I should take a look at Promethea next.

um, I guess so - the story (as with all Warrior ongoing stories) was left unfinished at the time.
In the case of MarvelMan this was a crime of the first order. If you get to read it, it's the bit where MarvelDog appears. That was our cliffhanger...
Promethea is good, but what I've seen of it (the first 10 issues of the comic) didn't seem to me to be Moore at his best.

I feel like I just ran into a brick wall, the reason? I just realized that I have been on here since I was 17, and I'll be 20 in July. I suddenly feel, well, odd.

Well, before they instituted the new forums, there was actually a thread on the forum games section (there was no separate Mafia one) there were posts that had probably hundreds of smilies. That would lag any computer.

Apey, I suspect that you always have a banana on
your mind. Possibly a metaphor.

Here's to more years, and more bananas.
