Fun game in Hockey Town today... Wings score in the final minute
to reach OT. Chicago actually emptied the net in the final seconds
trying to get the win and extra points.

Later Philly and Pitt clash in their final game. With nothing on the
line will it be a brawl? Guessing the coaches may rest a few guys
to get ready for a Cup run.

This final regular season game is huge for us...we have to show that we can beat the Flyers on our new home ice (0-5 against them at home since Consol Energy Center opened up).

True, the Pens head to head games with the Flyers have not gone well this year,
including a trio of come from behind wins for Philly.

Blackhawks stoned the Wings in the shootout, but Chicago really wanted the +2 win. Detroit had the iron pinging all day long, but no cigar.

In the East, I'm taking New Jersey over Philadelphia,
In the West, I'm taking Nashville over Vancouver,

And for the Cup, I'm taking the Nashville Predators. And I certainly hope I'm wrong about them, starting in the quarterfinals against Detroit.

Phew, crisis averted in DC, we made the playoffs. Now if we can only get 16 wins. I think we benefit from being an underdog this year. I think high expectations really stymied the team's efforts the past few years. The only problem is we need 4 versus the defending champions, then will probably need 4 against the Rangers, and then another 4 against either Pitt/Philly, and then 4 against the western conference champs, with the possibility that we'll have to play Halak (who crushed us as a Canadien).

Oh welp, I'm just hoping we re-sign Semin long term, he's too good to let go. And I hope that instead of the "If we add a few veterans who have playoff experience, we can pull ourselves together during the playoffs" attitude during the off-season we just go for a huge name to bolster our attack or defense.

And who knows, Holtby has won a bunch of AHL championships, but then again, so did Neuvirth, and Varlamov before him (if I'm not mistaken).

Don't know if this will change your predictions or not, but the teams re-seed in the 2nd round. Therefore, your matchups would be:

Rangers vs Devils
Bruins vs Flyers

Canucks vs Blackhawks
Blues vs Predators

I think the caps will get at least 1 win over the bruins. They've had really bad games against us the last 2-3 years, including the one where tim thomas let an alex semin shot from behind the blue line slide right in between his legs for the gwg the day before the postseason 2 years ago.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Caps actually make a deep run this year. This is really the first year where no one expects them to do anything in a while with Boudreau fired and all.

Chara is excellent on Ovechkin though, Backstrom is just getting back from a concussion so we don't know how he'll play, Semin can just stop playing at any given moment, Green is sometimes an idiot, and we only have 1 healthy goalie.

Oh, and Tim Thomas.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the matchup compared to the Rangers, but I've just been so hurt by the Caps the last 4 years... I can't hold up hope for that much longer, so I'll just enjoy the ride as it happens.

It was a bad call. Linesman looked like he was going to blow the whistle...then changed his mind. Though I have to say the third Pens goal may have been icing.

Kings beating Canucks at home is a surprise to me anyway.

Go Sens!
