Overhyped. Good movie, but overhyped.

Awesome, awesome, better luck next time, awesome and that doesn't sound like fun.

I think that covers everything, doesn't it?

You let curlette play a man's game? [-X ;)

At least your family are into football, must be rare round NA. (p.s. are you canadian or american or what?)
First of all, there a few men's game and the way soccer is played on a non-pro or college level in the US it wouldn't qualify. I remember playing soccer as a kid I once got warned for just barely brushing against another player when I turned to run down the field. Second, it was probably on a girl's soccer team. third, the younger kids are more into soccer but for whatever reason it seems to become less important as you get closer and closer to high school. fourth, he's british.

A bit overhyped yes but still thought it was one of the three or four best movies of 2008 that I saw anyways and the best action movie of 2008.

time for strike's movie of the day...

Today's movie, Independence Day.

Why independence Day because I thought people might be expecting to go the Dark Knight route and I'm determined to prove them wrong. Second, because it has to be one of the more overplayed movies on television. Is it just me or do they play it 100 times before and during the 4th of July? I mean it's a good movie but I've seen it one too many times to want to see it again within the next 2 years.

It's well known to those who visit this thread on a regular basis but to those who don't probably not so much. I know I've seen PMC in here before but I know he doesn't make regular visits or even monthly visits for that matter.

Funnily enough I did not like Mars Attacks the first time I saw it. Of course at the time I was probably 6 maybe as young as 5 and admittedly at that age I was scared to death of anything from outer space (yes that includes E.T. though you have to admit there's something wrong with an alien that has an extra long finger touching a young boy in a somewhat appropriate way.) I remember the first time I saw Alien, I slept under my bed for the next week because I thought the monster was going to come out from my air conditioning vent. Funnily enough though, not much else scared me at that age. Jason didn't bug me, I saw The Shining, The Amityville Horror and the Exorcism on the same night and slept fine. Dinosaurs I thought were too cool to be scary, so naturally at that age I found Jurrasic Park to be the best movie ever and so on and so forth.

I find it easiest to speak the local language - so grillling is "broiling", trousers are "pants", football is "soccer", petrol is "gas" - else I have to qualify what I mean all the time. If I was in France I'd speak French, if I was in Kenya I'd speak Swahili - here I speak American English. I know it's a corrupt and degraded form of a noble language, but I live here...

I know we call it just "football" n the Uk, and that most languages have a very similar word, but "soccer" is a perfectly good word too, which you often hear as an alternative in the UK, though I think mainly from folks who play Rugby (as in Rugby Football)

"Often hear" the only time I hear soccer is in Pro Evolution Soccer (video game) and from my Irish cousin who plays gaelic football. The odd rugby player may say it but that is very rare from my experience. Anyway it's just stupid to us that americans name a game that barely uses it's feet football and then renames our game to something else. I am going to create a website called conquer club that has less to do with conquering than this site and then call this one soccer.com
