...whatever about duggcarr getting banned, he had some good points about the scoring system, he was contraversial, he used tactics you might not agree with, BUT don't just call him a prick, don't flame him when he can't respond. Some people here seem to really hate dug. Honestly now that dugs been banned you guys come across as bad winners. Flame hendy or sammy if you must, or point out why they're wrong (if they are wrong), but don't just flame dug. Don't act with smug satisfaction now that he's been banned. The smugness is killing me. I'll hate you if you do. I won't leave (well actually I'm leaving on a completely unrelated note), but I'll hate you.

The mods did make a fair decision, maybe not even harsh enough...however you cannot really punish somebody unless it is a known or clearly stated rule that you cannot do it. Since the invisible rule was niether, dug deserved a strict warning before he was actually punished

Let’s see if I have this straight…

Blitz, like many other players and whether he/she realizes it or not, manipulates the scoring system to achieve a higher rank/point total. Personally, I couldn’t care less. However, for their own personal reasons, people such as Dugcarr1 do care…he let it bother him enough to go as far as offering a bribe to take over someone else’s account simply to sabotage Blitz. Discussions over his moral and ethical actions are bound to occur and have…they are, however, completely and utterly irrelevant with regard to monetary consequences.
There was no explicit rule regarding this type of conduct and more importantly, money never exchanged hands. One could offer to pay for sex, bribe a cop, etc…legally (at least in the U.S.A.), they’ve done nothing wrong in a court’s eyes as long as nothing exchanges hands and the illegal act in question isn’t committed.
Lackattack…if I understand this correctly, you have decided to ban Dugcarr1 (for how long, I don’t know) for starting games with the sole intention of suiciding in them. Why is that? Is it because he premeditated his actions? If so, then perhaps you should randomly check game chats for people who announce that, because they don’t like the way a given game is being played, they are going to “suicide”. It’s ridiculous. This may be your website, but don’t forget that you charge a fee for certain provided services. And, yes, while you may reserve the right to revoke site privileges if posted rules are broken, you’re just as wrong to revoke them based on what you or the site majority might personally consider to be immoral actions…especially when someone is paying you for your service. Then again…it is just my opinion…

On a side note…

I find it amusing how the vast majority of people who responded to this thread consider Dug to be far too serious. I played one game with Dug awhile ago…I, too, found him to be crude, obnoxious, and initially irritating as hell. As my experience with this site grew, I saw what he was doing…he was manipulating people…pitting them against one another so that he would benefit. This tactic isn’t necessarily my cup of tea, so I mentally chose to not play any more games with him and moved on…One thing I have to give him credit for though…I never received a PM from him asking me for support…asking me to basically kiss his ass in public…asking me to bathe him in a radiating spew of self-righteous compliments…asking me to do what Blitz did:

So you are saying that guy was intelligent enough to become General, but he didn't know that BRIBING PEOPLE is against the rules.

No, you don't.

Dug ran a fraudulent scheme to screw innocent players who were unfortunate enough to partner with him so that he could give his and more importantly their points to friends. To the extent that his friends knew he was doing this and participated in the scam they should be banned as well. To the extent that they knew from his postings that this was what he was going to do in his final games (and he basically advertised that's what he would do) and they participated in games with him, then they are all guilty of having a secret alliance, which violates one of the two rules that govern CC (i.e., no secret alliances).

Couple this with the fact that Dug was caught attempting to bribe someone so that he could violate the other rule of the site (no multiple accounts -- in effect he attempted to purchase someone else's account), and you have a player who went out of his way to do everything to damage this site that he could dream up.

Lack said it the best, at the end he was a griefer pure and simple. You not only have his actions, but you have his statements showing intent.

The site is immeasurably better off without him. The only further question in my mind is whether his friends who participated in his game-throwing scam should follow him out the door as well.

As for Blitz, I don't know him, haven't played him, don't have any particular desire to play him (and as I don't play partner games I probably have a pretty slim likelihood of playing him in the future), and I don't really care a whole lot about his score, but from all I've heard he is an honorable player who no one as far as I know as even so much as accused of doing anything illegal or unsportsmanlike.

His infraction you mention, if you can call it that, rises to the level of a breach of etiquette. If he's really upset you I suggest perhaps not inviting him to your next tea social. If the worst you can accuse Blitz of is wanting people to like him, and you think that that puts him on the same level with Dug, then all I can say is your judgment is sadly lacking.
