Hehehe, I never looked at it from that angle.
No, but he is one of the seven dwarfs and he has seen Snow White's panties.

But I also know there are probably a lot of details that I don't know. And I know that there is a lot of hypocrisy running rampant. Like heavycola crying out against whoever reported them. I would be willing to bet that DM files more reports than anyone else here. So it is pretty hard to protest against the decision when I don't know the facts. And joining a protest when so many of the protesters are being unreasonable is not appealing either.
I agree.

So far, it seems we have 2 real issues and perhaps (only perhaps) another.

The first is whether the rules are clear enough. I would say no ... and that the fix is pretty simple, just add a few words. (using someone else's account for ANY purpose, including forum posting is against the rules. The ONLY exception is allowing someone else to take your turns when you will be gone, ("babysitting") with approval.
I think the main issue is that if it's as big an offense to post in disguise (as a legit member, on another legit member's account) as it is to set up multiple accounts to cheat in games, then his should have been more obvious.

See my posts about DaGip's thread, which was totally ignored by all rulesmongers.

Reading what the rules say, I would NOT get that. Nor did the people who did it. Nor, I submit, would any reasonable human being.

It might be different if these guys'd gone into the forum in disguise and acted badly, swearing, flingin insults and trolling shamelessly. But they did not (as the tale is told). Nobody realised what had been going on until they pulled off thier rubber masks and revealed that they'd really been Sherlock Holmes and Simon Templar, masters of disguise, all along. It was at that point that the people who had been duped protested. not because of anything they'd said or done other than actually being there and talking.
I completely agree. None of us saw anything bad in it. And it wasn't just us four who knew it, it was almost everyone in the GH. Nobody got from the rules that it wasn't allowed. Why would we do it if we knew it wasn't allowed, or even suspected it?

And the entire point was not to cause chaos. Our entire point was not to ruin the subforum, but show them that we could behave as well as them. If they didn't want us in the forum after that, so be it. But to claim we broke rules or attacked the integrity of their forums is silly.

I gotta disagree with you here. The problem is not so much whether you actually did go in, listen to stuff and then tell others about it (I don't think you did!). The problem is if they let you get away with this, then someone else can come in with a truly nasty intent. AND that really would destroy the integrity of special interest forums, particularly religious ones.

I know there are things I might say to someone in a private forum or pm that I would not consider saying in public. In some cases, perhaps "secrets", but in many cases it is just something that I either don't want to spend five pages explaining or just don't want to face criticism. Maybe I am having a real and true crisis of faith, for example and decide to discuss this with someone else whom I know to be of my faith .. and others for advice.
It might seem funny to take those words and spread them around, but the bottom line is how would you feel if it were you.

NOW, as I already said, I do NOT think you folks were doing anything of the sort, but I think to suggest that simply infiltrating is "no big deal" is just plain wrong. You did this as a prank and, apparently, no harm is done ... you are even back as premium members now and perhaps we will get a rule clarification (which would benefit everyone). However, I strongly suspect that this potential is why this matter was dealt with as harshly as it was.

have a gander at this Ditocoaf, max got punished as well.
Wow...Im only on page 6 of this thread...lot more reading to go.

Anyway, I think this post requires my response so here it goes. I was warned because I went on my brothers account to go into live chat when I was on a 24 hr ban; it is against the rules and I now know that, even though my intentions were to find out why my 24 hour ban was lasting into the 25th hour. I was warned as a result

However, the reason for the bust was wrong and illogical, even more so than the bust which this thread is referring. After being busted for the belief that I used an account for purposes other than to babysit, I asked my brother to go on his account and write to some of the mods in order to resolve the situation. I never assumed his account in any way and there was no rule which I broke. Asking someone to post is in no way the same thing as posting for someone else and I have yet to see a response by any admin, mod, or conquer club member explaining Twill's justification in busting me, especially considdering that the initial reason for my bust had nothing to do with me abusing my brothers account.

I apologize that this is off topic, although I feel it needs to be said. For a better description of what occurred, read my second to last post on this page:

I understand what you are saying. However, this has never actually been a problem before. Even posting PM's or private conversations from usergroups has never warranted a ban. This "private"-nonsense was never paid attention to. Prowler is allowed to post posts from a private forum, people are allowed to post pm's from other people in public, people are allowed to read stuff from pm's or usergroups they aren't a part off.

This site isn't private anyway. People are usually considerate enough not to read Pm's (I never read Simon's) but often the gossip and such gets around. If you badmouth someone in a lot of the private forums you will get it back. It's the internet, it doesn't like any of us.

Out of curiousity, why wasn't owenshooter banned?

He was on somebody else account trolling somebody in a private setting, exactly what "the 4" did.

How could it not be proven? Check PM timestamp, check login and IP timestamp, compare IP's, case closed.

I think from here on out, they should be referred to as The Gang of Four.

This has awesome connotations.

Oh, when will master twill
get over the thrill
of the hunt and kill

despite the lack of dignity
in using rules that lack clarity

like killing a bear at a feeding station
from a computer station
twill sucker-punches those not in his nation

we are pleading
appealing
often cajoling
but always seeking
that twill listen to his better side
and bring back those sent to the outside

what we need is more clarification
and less stultification

I noticed 'chaos' has been written in-abundance through-out this Thread, although I will grant you this, it was not directed at me.

As the Bearer of a tile such as 'chaosfactor', I can safely say this..

I'm Posthumously, and humorously awarding the "Gang of Four" a shit load of Medals!!
\:D/ \:D/ \:D/

Thank You indeed for keeping me most entertained!! I would like to liken the whole "Fireside Tavern" Posses adventure into the ultraworld as a soap opera, but that would not be doing it any justice at all, distill it perhaps with a Shakespearian play, and throw in a bit of comedy and then you will be arriving at a genre.

I am just gutted I sat on the sidelines on this one, shit! I thought I was hard!

A big round of applause please, if you would be so kind, do the guys some justice!

So is DM going to get back to posting? I'd be interested in reading what he has to say. Just out of curiousity.

I'll miss Skittles!... was a decent guy.

My personal opinion is that I don't care a whole lot for the way this site is managed or moderated. I also think Wicked was the best mod. Now admittedly, I haven't done anything to warrant any attention from the mods in any way, so I can't say I was unfairly dealt with at all. And I don't pay real close attention to things that are going on here, as is obvious by my late posting in this thread. And sure, the Gang of Forum broke some rules, and should have been punished, but I've seen others such as wrestler and Prowler do much worse, and stick around longer. Even Norse, who was frequently over the top with rude and lewd comments, was allowed to stick around for quite a long time before finally being banned.

My 2 cents, for whatever they're worth. Fun read, this, though.

has anyone heard from Simon Viavant since the ban?? I kinda feel sorry for the guy, he lent his account out for someone else to post on, now he is just bannished and part of the past, whilst the guys that got to use his account for their posts have got away scott-free with a free premium to boot. It would be nice , if someone with money would step up and let the guy come back to the website, he has served his comuppence a suitable punishment for what he did. Does he deserve to be banned from the website for eternity? No.

I found this active game he is in though:

I don't know if it is him or a babysitter but we can pose questions to either and speak to him through the game.

DM's still online, I have several 'Flaming' Games going with him, he is just having a little girlie sulk.

I wouldn't read into the situation much, as much as I love controversy, it is the same old, same old arguments.. Someone got into trouble and got their wrists slapped, the forum kicks up heat because the forum is boring, life moves on, next challenge!!???
